Scream if you wanna go faster on America's Roller Coast
If it's thrills you want, then Cedar Point is the place for you. Widely known as the Roller Coaster Capital of the World and perched on a peninsula overlooking Lake Erie, Cedar Point is the second oldest amusement park in the USA. Open daily from May to September, then on select weekends until November, it has over 70 thrill rides, including 17 roller coasters. Cedar Point Amusement Park first opened on Lake Erie peninsula in 1870 and has been sating adrenaline junkies for nearly 150 years. Known as America's Roller Coast, it has no less than 17 roller coasters, including the legendary Blue Streak, a wooden coaster built in 1964. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground and your breakfast down, head to the Maritime Museum of Sandusky, which explores Ohio's rich maritime history through pirates, shipwrecks and fishing. Younger kids will love the Merry-Go-Round Museum, which features a beautiful vintage carousel, hand-carved animals, and a quirky gift shop.

While Sandusky is a year-round destination, Cedar Point is not. Open between May and November, it sees the wealth of visitors during the warm summer months, when temperatures reach a balmy 80 degrees. July and August are the busiest months, and Cedar Point vacation rentals get snapped up quickly. The best time to visit is in spring or fall, when the weather is still pleasant, but the crowds have dispersed. Winter is the low season in the Lake Erie region. Sandusky is usually covered in a blanket of snow and many attractions are closed for the season.

The East Sandusky Bay Water Trail is a 15-mile cycling and walking route which runs along the shoreline of Lake Erie. It forms part of the larger Ohio Water Trail and is home to a wide variety of bird and wildlife, including migrating shore birds and nesting bald eagles.
