  • Peaceful Family Getaway

"This home was a great place for a smaller family. Beds were comfortable and the living room space was very cozy. The owner provided everything we needed from fun family games, to a basket of toys to take to the pool, to adult bikes to ride the bike trails. We particularly appreciated the wonderful children's storybook to read at night. That was a gem for our son. The location of the home provided a very peaceful atmosphere. Waking in the morning and seeing deer roaming just beyond our deck was such a treat. South Meadows pool is located close and provides a much quieter atmosphere compared to all the much more crowded pools. Its also a very short bike ride to the meadows bike path to the lodge where God's breathtaking creation is captured so magificently. The owner has taken much care into making her home such a special place for others. We highly recommend staying at this home. We intend to plan a return visit."

  • Sadly we won't be able to return

"We come to the ranch every summer and always have a fabulous time. This summer, with the addition of two puppies between us and my parents, we had limited options. I was pleased to find this property at an affordable price and a very nice owner, Linda, to rent from. The home was beautiful and spacious, just as described. We were there during the time of all the smoke from the forest fires so we didn't get to appreciate the view as much but, even still, enjoyed the large windows and spacious deck very much. The only things I could see that would be easy to improve upon is the replacement of some pots and pans (the coating was chipping a bit) and upstairs, especially, was a bit dusty. My mom is a house cleaner and I have allergies so we may have been a little more sensitive to that area. The check out time (10am) was a little early and stressful for us. It made our last evening not as relaxing as I feel it could have been with a later check out time since we had to start on the to-do list. Again, those are petty things and I choose to focus on the positives which by far outnumber the minor negatives. The beds and living room furniture were comfortable. They had plenty of bikes for use. The ping pong table was a hit. Netflix a bonus. The layout of the home was perfect for the 7 of us. We were able to set up our dog pen between the kitchen and casual dining area without getting in our way. It's a shame that one situation had to ruin it for those who would like to return with their animal family, though, I can't say I wouldn't do the same. Thanks again, Linda, for allowing us to enjoy your property."

  • Fantastic house for big group in the perfect location!

"We had a group of 7 adults and 4 kids for a family reunion, and we could not have asked for a better house at Black Butte. The house is beautiful and in great shape. We really appreciated the large dining table that seated all of us, and the nice open kitchen that was well equipped and had plenty of storage space for the abundance of food we brought! There was all kinds of great rec equipment...3 bikes and plenty of helmets, pool toys, tennis rackets, and swimming towels (and lots of games and DVDs, which we didn't use because we were outside most of the time!). The location was ideal, especially with kids. It's a 5-10 minute walk (or even shorter bike ride) to the Glaze Meadow rec complex, where we played in the pool, got massages, played at the playground, played tennis and bocce ball, and rented bikes and trailers. The house is adjacent to the bike path, and there's a beautiful lake and meadow a few minutes' walk from the house. We even saw 2 bald eagles not too far from the house! The bedroom configuration worked really well for us-- the master was nice and spacious, and even had a big closet area where we put the pack n play for our youngest. The older kids loved the bunk beds. There are also lots of decks, which provide lots of options for hanging out outside."

  • Thanksgiving nightmare to a dream

"If you take one thing away from this review you need to know that no matter what the owners will take care of you. We arrived late the night before thanksgiving after a long drive on icy roads. The house was cold but directions were clear on how to get things up and running. We went to bed as fast as we could and when we awoke in the morning we did not have any water. The pipes had froze during a frigid night. Today was Thanksgiving and everyone was trying to celebrate with families. To make a long story short the owners worked hard, taking time away from their families, to correct this as soon as possible. We had water on that evening and were able to enjoy the rest of our stay. Then the night before we left the power went out at the ranch in our area due to the cold weather. The owners really worked hard to make this work out for us and we deeply appreciate it. The home has all the essentials for a cozy stay. It is close to a great trail, creek and small park. If you like to swim the pool is close but is open in warm weather. My only caution is that the stairs are quite steep. if you have small children that would be my only precaution."
