  • Family reunion

"Stayed at MHVL for two weeks to meet up with our sons who live in Portland. Nice place, nice view. It rained all but 3 days but on those days we had great views of Mt. Hood. The town of Hood River is really quaint, watch your speed though, we almost got a ticket day one but the cop let us off with a warning. Lots of hiking near by. The rental is huge. The beds were comfortable. Never had any trouble sleeping."

  • Amazing house and location! So cozy and relaxing - we will definitely be back!

"We absolutely loved everything about our stay. From the beautiful - impeccably clean house to the relaxing atmosphere and location, we will definitely be back! We loved the Master Bedroom (super comfy by the way) with the doors overlooking the backyard and river - what an amazing view to wake up to! It was so peaceful to sit out on the deck and listen to the sound of the river. We loved the open concept layout of the house with all of the windows, the high ceilings, beautiful views, etc. We felt like we were in a Hallmark card! We didn't use the fireplace but I love that there is one so you have the option to use it (and the wood was provided which is awesome)! The owners were so friendly and accommodating when booking. Highly recommend!"

  • Family Thanksgiving

"In past years our family has rented houses on the Oregon Coast for Thanksgiving. This year we chose The Mountain House and were not in any way disappointed. Owner Rob was very responsive to our e-mail requests for information and even made sure there were plenty of kitchen staples on hand, prior to our arrival. The view, the sauna, the hot tub, the sound system, the large table with plenty of extra chairs, comfortable beds all contributed to our having a lovely time. And the extras: a drinks bar separate from the kitchen, two insulated coffee carafes, plenty of towels and extra bedding, two dish washers and (wonder of wonders) sharp knives made everything perfect. Thank you Rob and family--we had a wonderful stay!"

  • Great Group House

"We stayed here with 12 friends for a birthday/ski weekend. It was great! The house is so spacious that we were never stepping on each other. Having 4.5 was super nice so no one waited for showers. The kitchen was my favorite. There is a huge table so everyone could have meals together. There was also an extra mini fridge in the kitchen for wine and beer and another one in the game room which was on the first floor. There were also two sinks and dishwasher which was really helpful. The kitchen and living room were on the top floor and had awesome floor to ceiling windows with a view of Mt. Hood. The one downside was because it was so beautiful and sunny the top floor got really warm during the day. Also it is heated with the fireplaces on each floor which was hard to maintain a consistent, comfortable temperature. The hot tub was covered and fit about 8 people in it. The game room was really nice to have to hang out in as well. Due to the bunk beds in two of the bedrooms it's not great for a lot of couples or a romantic weekend but was great for our mixed group. It was warmer when we were there so we didn't have to worry about icy roads or snow but if there was a lot of snow I could see it being hard to get up the road to it and to park at the house. It was really close and convenient to Meadows where we spent the day snowboarding. I hope we get a chance to rent the house again. Everyone had a great time and loved the space."
