  • Spring break vacation at Thunderhead lodge

"We found the room clean and ready to go. All the amenities that we needed was all inclusive in the room. It was plenty warm in the room for my wife who loves it warm! The only issue we had was that the wifi didn't work. We could connect to the system but the internet for some reason didn't work, the modem showed an active wifi to connect to but indicated that there was no connection to the internet. Also there wasn't a thermostat in the room for us to lower the heat, which wasn't a problem for my wife or my kids, but I was a little uncomfortable for sleeping. Aside from that we had a good time and the room was very clean, well maintained and the rate was very reasonable. I highly recommend staying at the old Thunderhead lodge. Its close to restaurants, ski shops, and a local grocery store if you forgot or need something. Also about 12 minutes from Mt. Hood Meadows or Timberline Lodge and just a couple minutes from Ski Bowl."

  • 2 family ski trip

"We shared the cabin with another family and the layout worked very well for us. We all gravitated to the main family room, although there was a second tv and hang out area the kids could have used to get away from the grown ups ;) Upon arriving the kids immediately found the board games and hunkered down at the kitchen table while the grown ups got the fireplaces going. The kitchen had what we needed, nothing fancy but the simple mismatching glassware worked well enough. I didn't hear any complaints about the beds or linens. We usually bring our own pillows. Not a luxurious cabin... but a good one and worked well for our getaway. The location was great, we could easily walk into town for dinner. We did notice that the driving directions were slightly off... At the T in the road the street sign said "Ligne" then changes street names along the way..."

  • Magical winter hideaway

"We stayed at Dancing Bear over Thanksgiving weekend. It is a perfect escape from the city pace, and feels like going back in time with all of the historic details. We spent most of our time in front of the fireplace (they provided plenty of wood for us who enjoy an almost constant fire), at the breakfast nook and outside in the hot tub. All of the Pendleton blankets (and coffee cups!) and cabin decor add to the authentic experience. Clearly this is a special place for the family who owns it and I feel so lucky to have spent a few nights there. I haven't slept better in recent months than I did at Dancing Bear. We opened the bedroom window at night and listened to the bubbling creek. It is a 30 minute drive to Timberline. If you want to get away, this is the place. We plan to be back."
