  • Good stay

"Good use of space and very comfortable house. A little closer to main road than we would typically like. Lots of traffic and sirens throughout the stay. Our teens were comfortable and were able to do what they wanted to do. Nice house in the trees."

  • Heaven on earth!

"If you're reading this review, look no further - you have found "the one" - the vacation home that truly has it all. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and are already planning to bring friends back with us next time -- the bedrooms, baths, and living areas (in other words the whole home) are spacious and comfortable enough to fit two or more families very easily. When we booked our reservation, we'd been told by several friends how this place is so amazing... yet still found ourselves astonished at the true luxury quality of it all. All of the furniture is amazingly comfortable, everything is clean, the appliances are top-notch and worked perfectly for us, and the view from every window is so beautiful. Not to mention the location is very quiet and secluded, but not actually "remote" - offering the best of both worlds. We've traveled a bit, and can say with total honesty and excitement that this is the nicest and most comfortable home away from home we have ever found, including hotels and rental homes. Not only because of how pretty everything is, but also in large part because literally EVERYthing we needed was there. Of course we didn't use every room or every feature available (we didn't end up trying the fireplace or hot tub), but I did spend a LOTTTT of time playing in the kitchen. Ohhh that kitchen <3 I could not stop saying things like "whaaaat! they have a standing mixer!" and "they even have casserole dishes... in so many sizes!!" When I wanted an apron, all I had to do was open a cabinet, and ta-da! There were aprons. There was not a single thing missing. I even marveled at the landscaping - the way everything thrived and bloomed made me feel like it was there just for us! I'll be thrilled to bring friends back, and our kids one day when we have a family, so I can use the kitchen to create a real feast and eat out on the balcony under the trees... Or brew a pot of locally-roasted coffee early in the morning, sitting out front (where there is a charming circle of chairs) listening to the birds and holding our breath to see how close the deer will come. My girl friends will love it. So will their husbands! Who wouldn't? For families with kids - this place is for you, too. Board games and DVDs galore - and lots of play space, both inside and out. All of this, paired with the perfect location for enjoying nature or driving into Portland for a day in town; it's perfection. Not to mention, the owners are incredibly hospitable. Enjoy!"

  • Cute cabin!

"This is a lovely Steiner cabin, and we stayed here the weekend of the Steiner Cabin tour, which was fun and appropriate! The river is just steps away, and it's a short distance to all the fun Mt. Hood has to offer. . Some comments on earlier reviews- the upstairs VCR must have been fixed, it works fine. There are about 100 tapes. The shower pressure is low but was enough to shower just fine. The minor negatives- the cabin is not secluded, there are neighbors very nearby, and the first night we were there someone was blasting loud music. The water is extremely metallic- bring your own for drinking! The stairs to the upstairs bedroom are steep, and the only bath is downstairs. The cabin, of course, has no air conditioning, but there are currently no fans. We stayed in the summer in 90-degrees-plus temps and the cabin was very warm- fans would be a big help. But, even with these, we loved our stay."

  • Great quiet cabin for the value...perfect for a couple

"We really enjoyed our stay at Martin's cabin. It has a very homey atmosphere. We didn't use the wood burning stove...only needing to use the wall heater once...and briefly at that. The hot tub on the deck was a real bonus after the long hikes we took during the day. We took advantage of the record was quite a kick listening to the old albums. We did cook 4 out of the 5 nights we stayed there. I brought my own cast iron skillet and a couple of bowls with lids. That is the only thing lacking a bit. A nice salad bowl with a lid...and a few more storage bowls for leftovers. We would highly recommend this cabin...a great value."
