  • Wonderful house - but it is very close to a noisy Highway 101

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We thoroughly enjoyed this house and its adjacency to Cannon Beach (the women loved Ocean Spa) and Hug Point State Park. Arch Cape is a bit of a respite from Cannon Beach and is a good location for exploring the coast. The house is well designed and equipped, clean, and has a nice view of the ocean. The deck and fire pit looking out over the ocean was a particular favorite of our group. The management company supplies wood (the management company is really great) but we recommend you bring an axe or hatchet to chop-up it up. We enjoyed the quick access to the very clean beach where there is a delightful stream that our 3 year-old granddaughter found to be more fun than the ocean! Sleeping accommodations are good (the view from the master bedroom is simply fabulous) but if there are more than 3 couples the fourth couple will have to use bunks or a futon. Not a big deal because the bunks are comfortable. This is a great place for little ones with a 'Pak and Play', nice high chair, and many great toys and kids books provided. A very nice touch. Our only issue with the house was the traffic noise from the immediately adjacent Highway 101 - particularly when sitting on the deck. This may not be an issue for you more 'urban' dwellers, but our group included folks who live on large parcels or in quiet suburbs. There is not an issue with safety for the kids because there is a fence and vegetated buffer that separates the house from the highway. We noticed that traffic dropped off significantly after 8:00 PM leaving the evenings on the deck very pleasant. But the log trucks started running promptly at first light. We recommend this house because of its location, quality and features - just know that there will be traffic noise and either bring ear-plugs (which worked pretty well) or find a house closer to the beach. :)"

  • Perfect location and excellent set-up for a family with small kids

"The house was wonderful - our kids immediately found the third story "lookout room" and ended up spending whole lot of time up there with the dollhouse and other toys provided. The house was clean, warm, well equipped, and fit our needs perfectly. A couple of the nights were a bit cool so having some wine next to the gas insert was awesome after the kids went to be upstairs. Perfect location as its only, as the advertisement says, 3 blocks to the beach. Turns out we could easily walk to the nearby store as well as take a little bit longer but overall very nice walk to town (pig and pancake became a morning breakfast routine for the kids). The kids want to come back and we'd definitely try to book the house again. To top it off we left a couple items at the house and the owners were gracious enough to post them to us which was very much appreciated. Great House....Great Owners - well done! Only other feedback is to update the site concerning a barbecue - we saw in the reviews that there wasn't one and brought our own small one."

"I rented Arbor Lane in Cannon Beach for my husbands 50th Birthday Week. We had friends visit for a night, and our 3 year old grandson for the last 3 days. We arrived to find a wonderful, welcoming and comfortable home with everything we needed to enjoy our week. The outside of the home is nestled among blossoming vines, moss covered trees and a water garden. Inside, the layout is perfect with an open floor plan-so you can stay engaged while cooking in the kitchen, playing games at the table or sitting in front of the fire place. Louise also has a glass showcase with local finds (shells, starfish) that is beautiful and informative. The bedrooms are very comfortable (the Master has its own side entrance) - the 2nd bedroom has a large deck with furniture set under HUGE Pine trees, and the 3rd bedroom has a trundle and washer/dryer. We had a hard time changing the HDMI on the TV when we arrived (operator error) and Louise responded immediately and had her caretaker at the home in 5 minutes!!!! He was wonderful and even made sure the batteries were fresh in the remotes. The home is a 2 minute walk to HAYSTACK ROCK (Goonie movie) and we walked the beach every morning-a 4 mile walk, met the local conservation society (that was present daily at low tide) and learned about the PUFFINS who nest there. We were also a 5 minute walk to (what I call) the 1st stage of shops and restaurants, and a 8-10 min walk to the center of downtown Cannon Beach. We loved the PELICAN for drinks, Wayfarer for Dinner and visited most of the wonderful local shops. The town is beautiful with gardens, flowers and meandering walkways. We also took a 1/2 day and went to Manzanita (a 10-15min drive) and visited the Winery at Nehalem. We are frequent VRBO and AIRBNB renters--and have always had wonderful experiences. ARBOR LANE will definitely stay on our FAVORITES list--and we hope to return for another stay! Thank you Louise!! Let us know if you EVER plan to sell!!"
