  • This property has been very well maintained and has the feeling of a a cozy home.

"Great, easy to work with space; we had up to 5 people residing there throughout our stay, without any problems. It is convieniently located being a very quick walk to the beach, the small commercial district of Gearhart, and any events at McMenamins' Gearhart Hotel. I would definitely recommend this house."

  • Wonderful Vacation Home

"We spent a week over Independace Day and enjoyed a wonderful relaxing time. Close to beach where we played in ocean every day and watched the best fireworks. Short drive to Seaside or Cannon Beach. House is well furnished, clean, and quiet. The owner was very accommodating even shipped our clothes we left behind and understanding when cooler leaked water on the kitchen floor and lifted the stain. Enjoyed being on golf course and watching the golfers."

  • Good for the crew

"This was a great hit with the inlaws and the kids loved the bunk room. Everything was clean and fresh, although the front steps could use a sturdy hand rail. From the pictures it looked more like an open concept, but each room is a separate room, which worked out great because it cancelled out a lot of noise. It was pretty hard to find from the street, but it was hedged all around, which was nice for privacy. Claiming parking for 4 stretches things a bit. The kitchen was nicely stocked, and the large electric griddle was a real blessing when it came to making pancakes for the whole brood. Having a washer/dryer for everyone was a huge bonus, too. Only 4 stars, though because the beds were pretty impossible to sleep on, so thank goodness for a couple of half decent couches. There was a lot of room in the big bedroom, so a bigger bed or another sofa or lounger would have been nice. I won't come back personally, not without some sleeping arrangements of my own, but the family seemed to really love it."

  • Highlands Retreat 90th Birthday

"The Highlands Retreat is a beautiful property that is casually elegant, very well maintained, and very clean. It fit our family perfectly for a weekend celebration of my mothers 90th birthday. We loved that you could see the ocean from the front windows and the golf course and mountains from the rear. It was quiet and very peaceful. The walk to the beach was easy. It was a perfect beach house. I would recommend the Pacific Way restaurant in downtown (such as it is) Gearhart for excellent food and would stay away from McMenamins at the old Gearhart hotel due to it's very poor food. The 9 hole golf course is fun, especially for beginner golfers and it is nice that you can walk into the house at one of the greens in case you need more refreshments. I would recommend it to friends and would stay there again if we visit Gearhart."
