Cute little Evolve Vacation Rental home that's welcoming of children but cozy for 3-4 people

4 of 5
Came here for a long guy's weekend / laid back Bachelor Party weekend. The house is in a suburban area but walking distance to the TriMet bus system which provides 1 way rides on all of TriMet for $2.50 for 2 1/2 hours or all day 24 hour rides for $5. We used this to hit downtown and the City Center so that we didn't have to drive, but we also just took Uber back in the evenings. The home has 3 bedrooms, 2 with Queen beds that could sleep 4 and another smaller room that has a Trundle bed, i.e. a twin bed that slides out from underneath another twin bed. Unless you're in your 20's I wouldn't recommend the trundle bed as an option for sleeping 2 adults who don't know one another well but it's fine for kids (unless of course your two kids would be fighting at night). With the Trundle bed pulled out there's virtually no other space left in the room and getting off the top to go to the bathroom would require stepping onto the lower bed. The owner, Shannan, is very accomodating, responsive, and flexible. I booked this home through VRBO, which doesn't have many homes listed in Portland but it's part of the Evolve Vacation rental so you may find more homes listed there depending on what you are looking for. This home was great to come back home to and relax in, we didn't have any problems during our stay. In fact Shannan left us a local beer to try as well as provided us with suggestions on places to go and good beers in the area. If you email or text the owner with requests before check in she will accomodate, as an example I asked that she made sure the hot tub was up to temperature and that there were extra towels there for us as we needed them. The check in and check out process was very easy, there is a two car garage but no garage remote is provided because the owner has had problems with them getting lost in the past but it's easy enough to open and close the garage door from inside. The door to the backyard needs a little extra push to get it to engage, we would have fixed the mechanism but we couldn't find a screw driver there so we just dealt with it. Make sure to dead bolt it to keep it locked. The Green Zebra Grocery store is like a Whole Foods and it's not far of a drive to get to it, there are beer growlers in the cabinets you can use to fill with beer there if you'd like or with beer from any of the craft breweries. We really enjoyed the Fat Head Brewerey IPAs!
