  • Perfect.

"This is not a ‘rental’, it is a home, lovingly cared for, nicely-decorated, comfortable and — thank you! — very clean. The photos here capture some of the utterly stunning views from all the west-facing windows, from the long deck out front, and from the rolling, neatly-mowed lawn stretching down the sloping hillside out front. You can also lay on the king bed and watch amazing sunsets through large sliding glass doors. The panorama takes in the entire stretch of Nesika Beach to the south all the way north to Humbug Mountain, Port Orford Heads and occasionally you even see the blinking light of Cape Blanco Lighthouse. And there’s Sisters Rock right down below, a fun pace to explore (and on windy days the leeward side can be very calm). Of course, the best views here are on sunny days, but even in fog and cloudiness the ocean with its constant crashing of waves below is wondrous. Best of all there’s seclusion and quiet. It doesn’t take long for the knots in your brain to start to unravel. No internet, but cell service is great. (Do I really want to talk on the phone?) If you need it your cell phone makes a wifi hot-spot. (Do I really want to spend that much time on the internet? Phones, internet, noise — all that awaits me when I get back home. Isn’t that how the knots got in my brain in the first place?) Well, we love it here. This is our second stay. We’ve been coming to the Gold Beach area for nearly thirty years — staying both at motels and resorts when the kids were little, and in recent years in vacation homes. This is our number one place in all those years. We hope to keep returning as long as it remains available."

  • The Sorenson Cabin is an off the grid delight

"The Sorenson cabin is small, off the grid, with propane heat, refrigerator, and stove top and a gravity- fed water system. It is remote in the sense that it is isolated and on 160 acres but is easily accessible from the coast highway. 4WD is a plus, the road is a bit rough in places. GPS elevation is around 1350’ There is some old growth timber and quite a bit of late successional growth interspersed with creeks and meadows. Wildlife abounds, lots of elk, turkeys, and no doubt bear and bobcat If you are looking for solitude and quiet in a no- frills environment with spectacular views it would be hard to beat the Sorenson Cabin. There is no landline telephone, but good cellular reception. We rented the cabin for Lori’s 60th birthday. On previous occasions we usually went camping or backpacking in our younger days. As luck would have it there was a cyclone moving down the coast and winds were gusting at around 40 knots with heavy rain but the cabin is tight as can be We had a problem with the shower head but within an hour of calling Wildland Properties and in spite of a steady gale and heavy rain they had a nice gentleman up there replacing it This section of the Oregon Coast offers some of the most gorgeous and least visited beaches in the State. Humbug Mountain is just to the north, and the Elk River is a sight to behold Trips to the Oregon Coast are good for the soul."

  • The Most Beautiful Mountain Top Wedding Location

"For anyone looking for a beautiful outdoor wedding location, to a beautiful relaxing, scenic, retreat for a large group, or small, this home away from home property is absolutely stunning, from every view! My niece found this retreat online and from that moment, was excited to see it in person. After speaking with the owner Jamie, we were given the caretaker Sally's number to set up a time to see it. We arrived and found Sally outside working away on late Fall clean up burning brush and fallen debree it looked like. After seeing this, and more on our next visit, it's understandable why this property looks so beautifully cared for. Sally and her husband do such a wonderful job at keeping this retreat beautiful yet still so natural looking. Our reservations were very easily made thru Jamie, who herself was very pleasant to work with. We reserved the whole facility, both main houses and all cabins. This worked well as for it gave all wedding party , plus family, rooms and beds. It gave us 2 kitchens total, the main house kitchen was used to finish prepping last minute wedding foods, while The Lodge kitchen was used for our meals for rehearsal dinner, to breakfast and lunch before the late afternoon wedding on Saturday. Both kitchens had all we needed for any prep left to do. We also enjoyed gathering everyone in The Lodge in the evening before calling it a night. Having a family full of hunters, including myself, we all admired the Bull Elk mounted on the Lodge wall. Meaning to ask Sally or Jamie if they knew what the Bull scored, we have all guessed it to be around a 357? Haha! We used the field up top with the Gazebo for the wedding, decorating with spool tables, Hay bale seating and a homemade Alder altar, it was simple yet beautiful, with the panaramic views from every direction, you needed very few decorations in this natural environment. Our older generation retired much earlier than the younger generation, leaving me slightly worried the music would disturb Sally and her husband. Sally was very very gracious and insisting they were not bothered by the music. I cannot say enough, how much I have truly enjoyed speaking to and working with Sally. She and her husband are much more than caretakers, they are two of the nicest, accommodating gentle souls you will ever meet. They truly made our stay perfect! I cannot recommend this property enough, Thank you Jamie and Sally, we met as strangers, and left feeling like we had a new friend😊"
