  • Great week! Clean House!

"Our family had a wonderful time. The boys enjoyed the hot tub and the ability to spread out! Great view. Close to everything we wanted to do and see. The boys were disappointed that there was no Playstation but learning to crab took their minds off it! Overall it was a wonderful experience."

  • Beautiful and Relaxing Lake Setting

"If you are looking for a wonderful few days in the middle of nature then this place is perfect. We saw tons of animals such as, river otters, deer, frogs, geese, heron, etc. The surrounding area is so quiet. At night there is very little light pollution and you can see the milky way if it's a cloudless sky. The boathouse makes this place truly amazing. We would spend most of our day at the boathouse floating, kayaking, swimming, etc. The lake is warm and so is great for swimming. There is very little motor boat traffic so you could kayak and float without any issues. The house is also close enough that you can spend time exploring the Oregon coast. We went up to Stilcoos day area which was great and allows dogs. Note that some areas of the OR Dunes National Rec area are off limits to dogs in the summer because of Snowy Plover nesting sites. We also hit Carl G. Washburne State Park (no day use fee) and Haceta lighthouse beach which both allow dogs. The drive up Hwy 101 is gorgeous. Also, as a side trip note that Hwy 38 has an elk viewing area. That said, a few notes regarding comments made by some of the other reviews. Yes, this place is in the woods. Which is awesome but it sounds troublesome for some people. So note that the Safeway in Reedsport on Hwy 101 is about a 30 minute drive from the house. It would be recommended that you show up at the house with at least a few days of supplies. As to the well water, we barely noticed the smell (i.e. it wasn't an issue). As recommended though we brought water for drinking cold but we used the well water to make coffee, tea, shower, wash dishes, and drinking water for the dog. There is both a working dryer and clothes washer. As noted, the Owner had cleaned up the walk to the boathouse and when we arrived it had been mown down and covered with hay. The house was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with all of the necessary utensils and cookware. The boathouse had a lot of kayaks and a floating lounger which was awesome for us older people who just wanted to float and read on the lake. We also came with our own portable hammock (recommended) that we set up at the boathouse. Hammocks and a lake make for some great napping. We had a great time. The setting was beautiful and relaxing. We would love to visit again."

  • Family gathering

"The house was ideal for gathering with family, which was the purpose of our trip. We had family traveling from various locations, and it was lovely to have such an open layout where all could visit. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the sun, looking out at the trees and ocean. The owners were quick to respond and send someone to check out the pellet stove, which turned out to be fine for us unfamiliar with them! ;) When our other rental fell through due to rare circumstance, I was so pleased to find this house for our large party, at such a great rate! The whole family enjoyed the foosball table downstairs and many family movies. Instructions on house care were thorough and informative and overall great for our family gathering!"

  • Great affordable spot by the dunes!

"We rented the a-frame and the studio when we were in town for my brother's wedding. The a-frame is really cute and comfy, with a nice deck that looks over the little lake. The studio is nice as well and is connected very closely with the a-frame. My sister and her husband had their 2 week old infant with them so they took the studio and it worked great for them to have a quiet separate spot but next door to us. We spent most of our time at the wedding site so we didn't get to take advantage of the rowboat or go play in the dunes, but Dune Haven is right there so we could have if we had time. The owners were very friendly on the phone and in person (I met Mike and spoke to Nancy on the phone). Nancy told me up front about the rule regarding no extra unregistered guests which I appreciated, so then I was able to decide if I still wanted to rent it - which I did. Because I knew we would be at the wedding most of the time that rule did not bother me. The price was very affordable and it was way better than a hotel, and fun to stay with my other siblings all in a group. Also I loved staying in a nice quiet cabin when I was not at the wedding!"
