  • Very Nice Place

"Very pretty place in a very pretty location. Beds and inside and outside furniture are well thought out and very comfortable. Kitchen is large and has pretty much all of the gadgets and pots and pans you could want. Place was very clean when we arrived. Having sheets and towels is a plus. Gas fireplace inside was great for the cool evenings and mornings. Wood fireplace on back deck made a great place to hang and talk. Bike trails across the road. Great hiking. Lake is beautiful and Huntington with great grocery stores is very close. On a low traffic road. Can't say enough good things about the rental and have no bad things. Rent it, you won't regret it."

  • Great Cottage

"Lory Cottage was the perfect getaway for us from the DC busyness, and our animals loved it there. All three of our dogs swam during our week, and our cats even got to enjoy the outdoors from the top balcony. We definitely plan on making it an annual activity. We would recommend probably just having more dvds on hand in each cottage for when the weather gets too bad to really do much outside. We didn't really have an issue with it, but some people probably would like to take the trip just to sit in."

  • Peaceful respite

"An excellent getaway from all of the clatter of daily living. If you want you can simply sit on the deck and watch the river go by. ( My brother in law did this) Or you can hike and climb to your hearts content. ( We did). My husband greatly enjoys the nearby golfing at Everett, Bedford, and close by Cacapon. It was pretty hot ( we thought we left the heat behind in Florida???) at 90 degrees so we didn't use the bike trails though we have in the past. The river was low but we caught lots and lots of fish. We did raft a bit ( our dog greatly enjoyed floating down the river on my stomache) but we didn't use the provided canoes. We love to build bonfires and there is both a nice pit riverside and one on the paved patio. It was just a bit too hot for a fire. We did cook quite a lot and the kitchen is well equipped. We ferried back and forth to a cottage owned by relatives a few miles away so we did a lot of local visiting and sightseeing. A very good 9 could spend a month here and never get bored. Next year we will visit in spring and bring our kayaks.( One more thing...If you have never had a gob be sure and buy a few at the Cogos or Sheetz. Great for breakfast or dessert with a glass of milk or cup of coffee!)"
