  • Peaceful respite

"An excellent getaway from all of the clatter of daily living. If you want you can simply sit on the deck and watch the river go by. ( My brother in law did this) Or you can hike and climb to your hearts content. ( We did). My husband greatly enjoys the nearby golfing at Everett, Bedford, and close by Cacapon. It was pretty hot ( we thought we left the heat behind in Florida???) at 90 degrees so we didn't use the bike trails though we have in the past. The river was low but we caught lots and lots of fish. We did raft a bit ( our dog greatly enjoyed floating down the river on my stomache) but we didn't use the provided canoes. We love to build bonfires and there is both a nice pit riverside and one on the paved patio. It was just a bit too hot for a fire. We did cook quite a lot and the kitchen is well equipped. We ferried back and forth to a cottage owned by relatives a few miles away so we did a lot of local visiting and sightseeing. A very good 9 days...you could spend a month here and never get bored. Next year we will visit in spring and bring our kayaks.( One more thing...If you have never had a gob be sure and buy a few at the Cogos or Sheetz. Great for breakfast or dessert with a glass of milk or cup of coffee!)"

  • Juniata College Mom from New Jersey

"We have stayed at hotels, motels, cabins, and trailers while visiting my son at Juniata college but none of our stays compared to our stay at the farmhouse. I wish we knew about this gem of a rental before. The farm was clean, spacious, warm and had everything and more in household needs that you could think of. The sunroom/observation room was a treat. Our first night we saw a black bear in the back woods. We also saw porcupines, deer, racoons, and bunnies in the back woods on the following nights. Our dog was in Springer Spaniel heaven jumping in and out of the babbling fresh water Creek next to the property. I would like to come back for a full week to get more hiking in at the state land that border the property."

  • Excellent

"Wow! This place was absolutely wonderful. The house and landscaping were impeccable. Very clean and well-maintained. You felt as if you were staying at a friend's house rather then a rental property. Very relaxing and beautiful. The boat launch is about a mile or so away. Hopefully we will be back next year! You will not be disappointed if you stay here."
