  • Enjoyed our long weekend

"We were looking for a Memorial Day weekend get away with fun nearby. This house totally met our needs. The kitchen is well equipped top to bottom--but if you're going to cook, just make sure to bring your own spices, etc. There is a grocery store nearby if needed. We enjoyed the evenings out on the screened in porch, with the deer eating in the backyard. We enjoyed breakfasts on the front part of deck. FYI--the rental agreement clearly states to bring your own towels--that includes a bath mat. We just didn't even think to bring the bath mat, and used an extra towel instead. I'd also recommend taking wipes or something, we used them wipe off the outdoor furniture because it's covered in pollen this time of year. Nothing can help that, wipe them off unless you want a green butt. One drawback, for us, to this house was the development itself. It's not pedestrian or biking friendly. There are no sidewalks or walking paths. We found one walking path around one of the ponds. It's a beautiful setting to walk around in, but it's not walking friendly as many of the drivers seemed to disregard speed limits, passing slower cars, etc. The pools looked nice but we just chose not to use them. There were several people fishing at the one pond one evening that gets stocked with some fish, according to a local we met. It's very close to Bushkill Falls, which was crowded but a nice hike. We also did a few things in the Delaware Water Gap, which was crazy busy. We tried two times to get in to the one visitor's center, and the road was closed because there was no room to park there. So we explored on our own. One cool place to visit in nice weather is the Marie Zimmerman Farm House, it's back a dirt road. There wasn't anyone there and we explored the property, took lots of pictures. We didn't try any of the local restaurants, except to grab a deli sandwich from The Roost. But there did seem to be quite a few options in the area."

  • Great potential, with refreshment

"The Laurel Ridge Lodge accommodated our group of 19 very nicely, and overall the week there was a success. But for a Lodge that is presented as a luxury lodge, several things should be better maintained. We had problems with the fire places and TVs, and did not attempt the outdoor pizza oven because it was not well maintained or cleaned. Also, the kitchen has only the bare essentials, and the location labels are inaccurate. These are details in the big picture, as the location and other amenities ( bocce, hot tub, theater) are great, and supported our group very well."

  • Wonderful little getaway

"My girlfriend and I stayed for new years weekend after a busy year to just get away to some quiet for a couple nights. The weather didn't allow us to really explore the property much but from the little hike we took we could tell the property is gorgeous and has a lot to offer anyone interested in hiking or wildlife. The cottage is very clean, well kept, and quaint. Has everything you need to cook meals, relax, and have a nice home base for some quiet and peaceful getaway. The owners were extremely nice, respected our space and privacy, and were just very warm and welcoming people. The compositing toilet isn't a deal breaker. It wasn't our favorite part of course, but its well maintained and doesn't smell at all. So if you dont mind that kind of situation then you are good."
