"This is the second time I've stayed at the cabin, this time for my honeymoon with my husband. Words can't describe how wonderful this place is and how exceptional the owners are regarding the concerns of the guests. When we walked in Christy and Rich had set flowers for us on the dining table as well as the desk in the bedroom! It was so thoughtful of them to do that for our honeymoon.
For the actual look of the place, the pictures just don't do enough--you've really got to see it. The wooden paneling (cedar?) looks beautiful. I personally like the rooms upstairs the best. My favorite thing to do is lie on the bed and listen to the wind--for some reason you can hear it so well up there; and it can be just a slight breeze, you can still hear it. Very relaxing. There's also a back porch so you can sit out and enjoy the wooded scenery. The cabin is also situated in a strikingly beautiful area of the South Mountain range; just driving around the area you have some breath-taking views.
The cabin is very close to the Appalachian trail, about a 10 minute walk down the road; for day-hikers, it is also convenient to a great many trail-heads along that trail which are all within like a 10 or 15 minute drive (with parking at them). There's also a lot of battlefields within driving distance--Gettysburg is the closest, but Sharpsburg, South Mountain, Harpers Ferry and Monocacy are not too far.
When I left, I was in a hurry to leave since I had to go to work that morning (we live close by), and I left my favorite pillow behind. Christy was so kind to get it for me so it wasn't lost for good! I can't thank her enough since it's the like the most comfortable pillow in the world! You really can't find a better rental place like this in the area and definitely not ones that have such caring and thoughtful owners as Rich and Christy--they really go out of their way for their guests.
Thanks so, so much for the wonderful stay! We hope to return every year or so, as much as our schedules will allow!"
