  • New favorite cabin!

"Mary's Ivy Cabin is superb! Even though we contacted her just a week before, Mary was happy to fit us in, and we are so glad she did. When you walk into a new rental house there's always the "oh no, what am I getting into..." moment, but as soon as we turned on the lights we were thrilled! The cabin is adorable, mostly one giant room with a large, comfortable sitting area, a well-appointed little kitchen, a dining table, and a perfect little pot-bellied wood stove in the middle to keep the place cozy. Mary supplied us with a huge bin of lovely smelling wood to burn, and we spent Friday and Saturday nights alternating between chatting in the 2 rocking chairs in front of the fire, and chatting in the giant, clean/new hot tub on the porch. The hot tub looks over the stream, and it's really perfectly situated. The cabin is at the end of a dead-end road with just one house nearby, on the other side of the house from the hot tub/deck, so it feels very private and peaceful. The stream is lovely and loud and beautiful, we walked along it quite a ways and even found a treehouse! We loved turning the hot tub jets off to listen to nature for a while -- then turning the jets and laptop back on to revel in human technology. :) The one bedroom is cute, with a comfy full-sized bed, and there is a big loft for kids or a second couple! The whole place is beautifully decorated with art from various cultures and lots of plants. The bathroom is fine, it did seem to get a bit of septic smell occasionally so we kept the door closed -- consider bringing a scented candle or two for the bathroom + bedroom since they are right next to each other. That is the only concern of any kind we had at Mary's beautiful Ivy Cottage. It was easy getting in, cleaning up, and a wonderful place to stay. Mary is very sweet and acommodating and was easy to communicate with. I already look forward to going back next time we need a quiet nature weekend - with a hot tub!"

  • 5th year in a row

"As in all four previous years, we had a wonderful time at this lovely house. The play rooms for the grandchildren (sometimes even children!) are great. I especially love having the bedrooms made-up with linens in place. That helps to feel like "vacation." I highly recommend this house. We also look forward to our once-a-year dinner at Louie's Prime, about 5 minutes away."

  • Nice place with great view

"We enjoyed our stay here. The owner, Paul, was easy to reach beforehand and made sure all instructions and directions were clear. The unit itself is very nice, on the second floor with terrific views of the large lake. One whole wall of the unit is basically windows so the whole time you have the lake view. Plus it has a wood-burning fireplace in the living room, which we used both nights of our stay. Lastly, the Big Boulder-Lake Harmony area has a lot to offer as far as natural beauty and state parks -- and having all the brochures and literature in the apartment was very helpful. Overall a great time. I'm sure anyone would enjoy this rental."
