  • Great time in a great place!

"This place is simply HUGE. We fit 7 adults in here easily with 5 individual bedrooms and huge couches for those who decided to stay up a bit longer at the fire and not wake the sleeping bears up. The hot tub was a great way to stretch out after a long day on the slopes at Elk Mountain. In addition to a large number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the living room & family rooms are also ginormous! I bet this place is great in the spring/summer/fall with the lake available, but as a group house for skiers, it was also perfect! Looking forward to staying here again next year!"

  • Perfection!

"The photos do not do this lodge justice--even nicer in person. Immaculate, nicely decorated, quaint & cozy! The owner was very responsive to our emails. Be warned--the gas fireplace is a nap-inducing machine!! You will not be able to keep your eyes open! We had a wonderful time--and if you're a nature & history buff, this is the place! We visited Eckley Miners' Village, the Knox Mining Disaster site & memorial and "Concrete City" (if you're an "abandoned places" enthusiasts--C.C. is for you--it's on Google Maps near Nanticoke). Hiked in Worlds End State Park (having lunch at Forksville General Store & Restaurant is a MUST!) and Ricketts Glen and some times we just hung out at the cabin relaxing and in the evenings, we enjoyed the extensive collection of DVDs. if you want to travel to Scranton there is a Houdini Museum (they keep weird hours, so check their website), the Everhart Museum, Nay Aug Park & the old iron furnaces. Also--I've never rented a house that supplied the toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. So NICE to not have to take up space and lug those items back & forth on vacation. BOOK THIS PLACE NOW!! It's AMAZING!"

  • Beautiful scenic getaway

"This immaculately clean and cozy home was the perfect place for my husband and me to enjoy nature and get away from it all. Everything we needed for our two night stay was provided except for food and at a very reasonable rate. The home is situated in a private setting up on a hill and the scenery is gorgeous. The owners are nearby and available if any problems arise. A few short miles from town, and you can visit several nice eateries. We especially enjoyed Mary Beth's Westside Deli for lunch and 220 House for dinner (both located right in the town of Dushore). There are many places to hike in the area .or you can walk along the roads which have very little traffic. We totally enjoyed a campfire our first night there. The mountain views in the Dushore area are just beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We are definitely planning to return to this rental."

  • Lakeside PLUS Private Pool

"We were looking for a week's rest and relaxation in a comfortable, clean and scenic setting - and, guess what? That's exactly what we got! As another reviewer commented, the pictures on VRBO and Homeaway are quite misleading - both the interior and exterior ones. The pool is wonderful - big enough for laps and for younger swimmers to enjoy. It's built right alongside Acre lake, which is picturesque, calm and wonderful for boating, fishing and swimming. We were there for seven days and initially we were the only ones on the lake (or so it seemed!) At the weekend, more boats appeared, but even they were few and far between. The house itself was clean and spacious enough for our family of four - with the occasional visit of another couple and their five young children! Wayne, the property manager, is easily contactable and lives a couple of minutes away. He was most helpful whenever we had any questions - even arranging a private tour of a local dairy farm and also fishing out the patio umbrella from the pool when it appeared there on a somewhat windy day! Weather was fabulous - very warm by day and cool at nights so that no air conditioning required. Highly recommended - would consider revisiting....."
