  • Great getaway in the mountains!

"BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY! We rented this fantastic property for a long weekend with two other couples, all with children (6 adults, 7 small kids). Firstly, if you are looking for secluded serenity - it doesn't get better than this! It is so quiet here that a person fishing at the pond can hear a conversation going on up by the pool/house. Our group was looking for a different experience having done mostly beach vacations every year for the last 10 years. It really was a fun and different experience. Several things to do (read on), but secluded enough that we focused on our kids and friends and the time spent with them rather than the commotion of a boardwalk or beach. Things we loved: 1) The pool is very new and owner spared no expense - plus the view of the hills and beyond was stunning. 2) Lit basketball/tennis courts - Never expect to find something like this out here. 3) Fish pond - awesome. Our kids caught multiple fish (largemouth bass mostly) every day. Didn't even need live bait - the fish were that aggressive. Love that about private ponds, etc. Saw a bald eagle by the pond!! 4) Campfires in the fire pit. Probably my favorite part. What started out each evening as a chance for kids to make s'mores turned into a nice time for the adults to sit around the fire, relax and enjoy a beverage. 5) Main house was very nicely furnished and had a very nice screened porch. You definitely get the mosquitoes outside, but that is to be expected in this setting and I would definitely say the bugs were a "normal" level for the great outdoors. The AC on the first floor was a tad warm, but it was blazing hot outside so that might explain that. 6) The guest house was awesome. Our friends arrived first and "claimed" the main house bedrooms, offering to cram kids together if we wanted to be with everyone else in the main house. No way! The guest house was every bit as nice as the main house, perfectly quiet for napping kids and had all the same neat balconies, etc. Really cool. Super, super vacation! Jen, the owner, was super responsive via email throughout the stay. I had a few questions for her (wireless password and trash collection day etc.) to which she immediately responded. I felt bad bothering her, maybe a "guest book" or something with vital info would help cut down the inquiries to her. But she was very nice each time. Bring all of your groceries with! Stores are pretty distant. Highly recommend this property!"

  • Beautiful balance between rustic, antique, retro, modern, and fun. Gorgeous lake setting.

"We had such a great time - wonderful place to get some peace and quiet. The house is cheerful, clean, well maintained, homey and stocked with games, movies, and items for outdoor activities. Eric (the Owner) was very informative, attentive and helpful."

  • great getaway!

"Had a lovely long weekend. the house was clean and had everything we needed. I enjoyed relaxing on the deck, while my husband fished. Sadly, he didn't catch much, though the locals said it is a great spot! we had a great dinner at the hotel wayne inn as well. Rented a SUP from the cycle shop in Honesdale. Pond was a fantastic place to try it out. Our lab had a great time and enjoyed the pond and running around the property."

  • Incredible Home for a Fantastic Ski Weekend!!!

"This was a winter ski trip and I was looking for a house that could hold three families comfortably. Problem solved - Dan & Gretchen's house was very big and roomy, with lots of open space for the adults and kids. I've rented homes in the past, where the photos didn't match reality. In this case it's true but that's because the house EXCEEDS the photos in every way, which is hard to believe but is true! This house is gorgeous, well appointed, and warm & cozy! There is a wonderful family room with a gas fireplace which makes it easy to hang out by the fire. The kitchen area has top of the line appliances and plenty of space, which was great because we were cooking up a storm after skiing. I loved the long dining room table that enabled all of us to sit comfortably. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all top notch like a 4 star hotel. We had a "no electronics" rule which worked out great, because of the ping pong table, pool table, dart board, and many games in the home. Kids never even looked at their phones! The views from the house over the lake are beautiful, and even in the cold weather we hung outside by the outdoor fireplace (huddled under some blankets). Gretchen and Dan were gracious, kind, and always ready to lend advice or help (like when Dan towed me out of a snowbank). They even escorted my wife on a beautiful nature hike - talk about concierge service!! Thanks Dan & Gretchen for sharing you lovely home!!"
