  • Very nice

"Very pleased with our stay at the Old Summer House. Clean, warm and friendly atmosphere. Our children loved playing on the swing set and swimming in the pond! We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it for anyone else looking for a place to stay."

  • Beautiful Home

"We had six adults and one infant for one week in this home. It was spacious and comfortable for all of us! There were three couples and the bedrooms were spaced so we were all able to have our privacy. We enjoyed the location of the house a lot because it was close to shops but far enough away to enjoy some quiet time. The master bathroom shower needs a waterproof liner-it doesn't have one which in turn gets the entire floor soaked. There were ants which was a huge nuisance. They were all over the back patio and in the kitchen/dining room/living area. They house owners did have ant traps there but they didn't do much for the issue. Overall the house was in a great location and vey comfortable for a large family!"

  • Great base for exploring Brandywine Valley

"A bit overdue on the review but we just wanted to reiterate what other reviewers have stated and that we had a wonderful time at this house. It was better than the pictures, very clean, modern, well stocked - fully functional kitchen & paper products provided (they even had produce wash!). The only thing you really need to bring is shampoo & bodywash. There's a 2 car garage and nice deck with lounge and dining furniture. We wish we could have spent more time on the deck but we visited during a heat wave. We did see some horses out in the pasture beyond this property. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom upstairs. The main floor has a study/office room that has a pull out sofa which can be used as an enclosed 3rd bedroom and a bathroom. There's a kitchen area and then 2 living areas for relaxing in. The basement contains the washer/dryer. We were there during a heat wave and the AC worked really well - if you're in the 2nd bedroom upstairs you need to shift the bed over a bit since the AC vent is being blocked by one of the twin beds (there are also ceiling fans in both upstairs bedrooms). Great base for exploring the area - we were mainly there to visit Longwood gardens. The house is not far from the major highway so it was very easy to get around yet still felt very serene. Short drive away are Kennett Square (check out Talula's Table / Nomadic pies for take away on days you don't feel like cooking). Groceries/big box stores are within close distance. Enjoyed stocking up on mushrooms to cook at home (mushroom capital of the world!) and wine tasting (overpriced for quality IMO but still fun). Very easy to get in touch with owner's representative via email or by phone (faster response) prior to booking. There are contact numbers and some instructions once you get there and it was always easy to get in touch with them by phone during our stay. Only con would be that they don't use paypal for booking so you will need to mail in a check/money order. Would recommend this property for those planning to visit this area."
