Recent Pittsburgh & Its Countryside reviews

  • Fun in the Laurel Highlands

"Location of this condo was excellent for exploring the Laurel Highlands region of SW Pennsylvania. We toured Fallingwater, went whitewater rafting, visited the Flight 93 memorial and spent a day in Pittsburgh. The golf course at Hidden valley was in great shape and a fun layout. The condo was as advertised. It was very clean. Plenty of space for our family of 5 (3 teen-aged kids). The kitchen had enough equipment for all of our needs. A couple of things kept this from being a 5 star review - Air conditioning is only from a window unit and it had a hard time keeping the condo cool with the relatively hot weather during our stay. Opening windows in the evening allowed for some breeze, but it was still pretty hot. The only other concern was that the mattresses and linens could stand to be upgraded. Overall, a nice place and a good deal. We would stay here again if we visited the area."

  • Perfect Thanksgiving Getaway!

"This was our second time staying in The Cottage at Campbell Farm and it was amazing. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner for the two of us and had everything that we needed in the house to do that and had a wonderfully relaxing 3 days. We also had an opportunity to explore some of the beautiful property on the farm. We hiked to two gorgeous waterfalls and realized some of the incredible natural beauty and diversity of the area...all within walking distance of the cottage. Can't wait to return to possibly snowshoe in the winter and to see the Spring bloom of wild flowers. Bryon and Mona are such nice hosts and always offered to give us anything that we needed for our little Thanksgiving getaway. Can't wait for our return trip! Thank you, Bryon and Mona!"

  • Great for a Getaway

"A group of 12 adults stayed at the Mountain Mansion the first weekend of October. It was great! The house is remarkably spacious, lots of light - sunlight and electric light, and very well equipped. Our group has been going for a Fall weekend at Hidden Valley for over twenty years. The Mountain Mansion is by far the largest, most well-situated, stunning rental we've had. Friday and Saturday of the weekend were rainy. In the past that might have ruined the weekend, but not at the Mountain Mansion. On Friday evening we sat around on the very large and well-furnished front porch partying to the sound of rain on the roof. On Saturday during the rain we had a couple of football games going on the multiple TV's, the dining table was busy with a jigsaw puzzle being assembled, and the downstairs pool table was busy. Members of the group are continuing to talk about the Mountain Mansion ... always saying complimentary things and citing happy memories."
