  • Location, location, location + a great house

"If you have decided on staying in LC, this is a fantastic location in a quiet neighborhood. I have stayed in this house 2 times during the last 2 years, for a total of 3 weeks. The owner is thoughtful and accommodating and will do her best to make sure her renters have what they need. The house is a short bike ride, or walk, from the most magical beach in LC. Although the younger generation trekked to the beach daily, the distance to the beach was a bit challenging for the older generation (about a 15-20 minute walk, or a 5-9 min bike ride). There is no drive to the beach/drop off option. However, there are other beaches nearby, and other areas to explore. The layout of the house is interesting (the owner refers to it as an upside down house). The living room, dining room, and kitchen, are upstairs, and the bedrooms are downstairs. The house is as described and comfortable, with the small exception that we found the master bed slightly shy of a standard queen size mattress. There was everything we needed to make ourselves at home and cook, or grill meals. We preferred to bring our groceries and eat in the house (First time LC visitors note: big stores are 30 minutes from LC, and there aren't a plethora of restaurants in LC). There are restaurants in LC, and nearby towns, worth checking out (and a lobster ‘shop’ a short walk away). For me, staying at the house for dinner, and gazing at the ocean from the upstairs deck, (cocktail in hand), is THE place to be. When we stayed as 4 adults, and a child, the couple staying in the room with the trundle bed found the sleeping arrangement a bit cumbersome. They didn’t like sleeping on different levels from each other (maybe the trundle bed pops up to the same level, and we just couldn’t figure it out?). That room has a door to the downstairs deck, so they found it necessary to turn the bed back into the daybed/couch position for the daytime traffic. The bedrooms have dressers and closets, so you can place luggage out of the way. There’s a washer and dryer, and a drying rack to hang wet clothes outside. The owner takes great pride in maintaining the house and garden, and we were lucky enough to visit when hydrangeas were blooming. Last year the outdoor shower was upgraded and renovated, and that was a great addition to a beautiful and comfortable ‘beach’ house."

  • Fabulous spot

"What a beautiful location. The pictures on VRBO do not do justice to the surrounding area. There are water views from most parts of the house, and the beach (two or three hundred yards away) is spectacular. The house itself is lovely with comfortable beds and ample space to lounge or play games in the living room. The owner was extremely nice. Bathrooms are a bit dated, but no problems with them. This house was just what we needed for a family of five. The weather the second week in October was a little cool in the mornings, but heat in the living room was all we needed to keep warm and comfortable."

  • Truly a Home Away from home

"The house was even better than expected - all amenities mentioned plus some not mentioned (beach chairs, etc). I went on a boat ride in Newport Harbor, ate at the Inn at Castle Hill in Newport (take a ride on 10 mile Ocean Dr if you haven't ever done so), jam was made from the blackberries on premises and we found several local restaurants to our liking. The owners were welcoming, helpful and an all 'round delight. I plan to do this again next year."
