  • Comfy well equipped Cabin in Stunning setting

"We visted for a week in mid October. We hit the fall colors just right and it was stunning. Peacful, quiet, romantic away from it all. The cabin sits high above the lake with easy although steep access to the lake. Each morning and evening we were greetwd with stunning sunrises, sunsets and moonrises over Billings Lake. The map point shown on the website is not quite the location it is slightly south on the lake on Cedars Road. You can actually access from Billings Road to Cedar Road or Legendwoods Road to Cedar Road. The owners and Kim who let us in were delightful. Wifi and cable worked well except for a brief xfininty outage which Sheri helped us find out about. Cell phone covearge as others have mentioned is sketchy. The landline is great for people to call you. The decor should please the fishing enthusiast...very cute. the cabin is comfortable and well equipped eapecially with games, movies and water toys (Bicycle boats, kayakes etc) On the weekend we saw quite a few fisherman on the lake. Otherwise it was very quiet at this time of year. If you are looking for city life or close to touristy spots this is not it, however it is not a long drive to Stonington, Mystic or Watch Point. We spent one day travelling over to Plymouth. We highly recommend Clyde's Apple Mill if you are in the area. It is the oldest operating steam powered apple mill in the US. It operates from Sept-Nov check their website. Bed downstairs was comfortable. This cabin coukd accomodate two couples or a family of six. The kitchen woukd be small for multiple cooks but there is a grill outside. TV with cable downstairs and for movies upstairs. Soapstone wood stove available and outside firepit. Picnic table, lots of chairs etc. Water sports, hiking, bird watching and relaxing. We had great waerger and a relaxing time. Away from it all!"

  • Simply.......'Magical'!!!

"Looking for a remarkable place to escape to and enjoy the peace and solitude of beautiful Block Island???? Look no further...... The Barn at Schooner Point is 'the' most enchanting place to stay. You can touch dragonflies, or catch fireflies, you can dance under the stars or talk to the moon....... And no one in the world needs to know....It'll just be your little secret. We discovered the magic of The Barn a few years ago and look forward now, each year, to our return. Sean and Leslie are remarkable hosts, allowing you to unwind and relax and just 'be' at your own pace. There is a sense of wonder when you stay on Schooner Point, a place where your imagination can run wild, or just wander endlessly on the beach, enjoy amazing sunrises and spectacular sunsets, even a stormy day is mesmerizing..... We've always felt that BI is a place to runaway to, now we feel like we're headed in the exact right direction when we land on the doorstep of The Barn!!!!! In the words of WB Yates, "The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper." If you're thinking of spending time on Block Island, come and enjoy the 'magic' that 'is' The Barn at Schooner Point and 'let your senses grow sharper'!!! ~Enjoy~"

  • A great place to stay for access to Newport, the beach and Narragansett

"The house was conveniently laid out with spacious rooms, nicely furnished and well kept. A/C on the lower level made the days comfortable while cross ventilation let the breezes into the bedrooms at night. Access to Scarborough Beach couldn't be easier. Erin was pleasant and easy to deal with. You could knock off 1/2 star for the mosquitos that restricted the use of the back deck - it was OK for breakfast and lunch, not so good at dinner time. But that's a small thing. The restaurant recommendations in the Welcome Book were accurate. We had a great week and would recommend the house."
