  • Another wonderful week at the Seaside home

"We just spent another great week at this Seaside Home. This is the third time that we have rented it, and will definitely be going back. The great location, with the wonderful view of the Bay, is difficult to match. The house is very comfortable, and it is a great place to enjoy the company of friends and children. This time our kids were around, and we enjoyed everything the house had to offer. We were only a few steps away from the water and we enjoyed kayaking and swimming, and the great sunsets sitting around the fire pit. Jonathan is always helpful, and has been most welcoming. We strongly recommend this beautiful home, if you enjoy the tranquility and the beauty of being close to the Sea."

  • Great location, private but close to beaches

"My siblings and I stayed for a week this summer - our first time ever in RI. If you're considering Westerly for a vacation, I would highly recommend giving it a try, and this house is in the perfect location. We walked or rode our bikes to the beach every day, sometimes several times/day. The road is flat and wide and there isn't as much car traffic as you'd find on the Cape or in Maine. The beach was absolutely beautiful, the water was temperate enough to spend lots of time in, and we had good waves for the kids to body surf. By the end of the week we had grown fond of this house, but our first two days were nightmare. The home was not clean when we arrived despite the two cleaning people we saw there, and we spent all afternoon Saturday first going to the store to buy cleaning supplies then taking them to the house to make it livable. But the "TV" room in the converted garage couldn't be helped - it was dirty, moldy, spidery. Even the kids didn't want to sit in there. There's an old rusty refrigerator and another fridge sitting in the breezeway where you enter. Just weird. There's a ping pong table in the basement which was great, but the basement looked like something out of a horror movie. The overall feeling was that the owner bought the house to rent and doesn't particularly know or care how the property is maintained. Also, it's a very old house and so some mustiness is to be expected. But the lack of care really hit hard at the beginning because we paid so much for the week. When planning our vacation I communicated several times with Denise, who let us go into the house to look around before we committed. She was very easy to work with during the planning stages. I emailed her to specifically let her know the house didn't seem clean when we went, and also specifically asked if it was well stocked with cleaning supplies in case we had to do touch ups. She assured me it was professionally cleaned and would be spotless and that there would be plenty of supplies anyway. Neither of these statements were true. I even had to pull out all of the shelves and drawers in the main refrigerator and scrub them before we felt comfortable putting food in there. I tried to contact Denise to let her know what bad shape the house was left in, and she still has never gotten back to me. Even so this was a great house, yard, deck to spend a week in if you don't mind getting it into shape first!"

  • perfect Charlestown RI rental

"Quitan is the Cleanest most comfortable place I've ever rented. The owners were helpful and responsive throughout the booking process and rental. Love the screened porch - watched Birds and boats and water and sky.. Birds were special...kids could walk on the dock and see blue crabs and pilot fish. This is not your Ikea filled rental- it's all real and super nice. An old house with beautiful furnishings, interesting pictures on the walls, comfortable seating & Easy to work in kitchen. Beaches -Great food and lots to do for all nearby. Damage deposit was returned immediately...We'll be back for sure. Seriously 5 Star!!"

  • Ideal Location for our multi generational "Girls" Weekend

"A group of friends/extended family traveling to the area for the Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival, found this to be an ideal location. Easy walking distance to the Jamestown-Newport Ferry. Easy walking distance to our favorite local restaurants: Jamestown FiSH and Slice of Heaven. Pictures almost capture the charm of this Victorian Mansion, but cannot really convey the joy of sitting with a cup of tea or glass of wine on the lovely porch overlooking the harbour and Pell Bridge. Sunrise & Sunset were both spectacular. Jazz music played briefly from next door added to the ambience and the neighbors were also very friendly. Although our numbers did not justify such a large house it will be very hard to not book this lovely home again next year or on other visits to Jamestown. I hope to return soon to the Middle Sister with more time to relax and enjoy the property. As well as return to spend more time on the Patio at Jamestown FiSH enjoying something bubbly by the Fire-pit or in the Dining room enjoying the fabulously prepared local seafood and produce. Thank you Libby! Thank you FiSH! Thank you Newport Mansions Preservation Society!"
