  • Perfect for the Different Generations!

"Once again this comfortable Home did not disappoint! We have rented this Home over the different seasons & years and we have Always enjoyed being here! Now, we are welcoming another generation and this Home still accommodates us wonderfully! Our two year old Grandson and his Parents joined us and it worked perfectly! The downstairs is great to keep an eye on an inquisitive toddler yet you can still be a part of the adult conversation with the openness of the rooms! Also with the full bathroom and bedroom downstairs and the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs, each family has its own separate space. The Backyard is terrific for young and old alike as is the wonderful deck. Should you want to head to South Shore Beach, you are not too far away. You are also not too far away from the center of Little Compton, as well. The Owner is very accommodating and responsive to all questions and concerns and he keeps his Home Clean, Functioning and Updated. We hope to enjoy many family times at this most comfortable Home! Thank You!"

  • Beautiful home in an amazing location

"We stayed in this beautiful home for 10 days with our two teenage children, and had a fabulous time. It helped that the weather was just about perfect. Communication with Carol (the owner) and Dottie (the housekeeper) was really good, and Dottie met us at the house on the first day and showed us the various items of equipment etc. The house feels like a home, rather than an impersonal holiday destination, and we felt comfortable right away. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Parking is easy. The house is beautifully decorated - the only thing to be aware of is that there is a lot of going up and down stairs! Bristol is a lovely little town, which doesn't feel too touristy, but having said that, there are some great restaurants and cafes there. The place has a very relaxed feel to it, and locals seem fairly laid back: Bristol does not have a hectic city pace. It's an easy walk into the town - we walked in just about every day we were there. Roger Williams University is nearby, which means that there's a slight collegey vibe as well. The best meals we had were at Christian's and the Sunset Cafe. Leo's Ristorante was good (the melon sangria is dangerously drinkable), and we had one good and one OK meal at the Thames Waterside Bar and Grill. The meal at the DeWolf Tavern wasn't so great. We got a pizza delivery from Papa Joe's wrap shack which was great (and they found the house OK). The pizzas are enormous. The house is on the main bus route between Providence and Newport and bus service is fast and reliable. Although a car is recommended, you could easily visit without one. In particular, if you have teenagers who want to explore by themselves, the bus would be a great way to do this. We took the bus to Providence one evening to see WaterFire (google it - it's well worth the visit if it coincides with your stay), and another time took the bus to Newport. We went to Newport a few times - to try out the restaurants, take a harbour tour and to look at the mansions. The Marble House is magnificent, and there's a display about the Americas Cup, which of course mentions Nat Herreshoff. (In fact, a book about him, available from the Marble House gift shop, describes Love Rocks in the first paragraph). There's plenty to do in the surrounding area. We spent a day in Boston (and wished we had more time). The internet is super-fast and covers the house well. All in all, this was one of the best vacations we have had."

  • Veronica G

"Condo is outstanding. Beautifully done and had everything we needed for a great vacation. Condo has 2 porches with lovely views of harbor/boats and the beach on other side. Towels and sheets were super comfy. Even my mom (who usually complains about other beds even at 5 star hotels) said the bed was fantastic! The location is great with lots to do in Watch Hill without getting in a car (3 beaches in walking distance, shopping, a couple of restaurants, ice cream stand, walk to lighthouse). Loads of tasty restaurants in Westerly and other beaches and parks nearby to explore, some with kayaking and stand-up paddle boards. Look forward to returning next year."

  • Great location, private but close to beaches

"My siblings and I stayed for a week this summer - our first time ever in RI. If you're considering Westerly for a vacation, I would highly recommend giving it a try, and this house is in the perfect location. We walked or rode our bikes to the beach every day, sometimes several times/day. The road is flat and wide and there isn't as much car traffic as you'd find on the Cape or in Maine. The beach was absolutely beautiful, the water was temperate enough to spend lots of time in, and we had good waves for the kids to body surf. By the end of the week we had grown fond of this house, but our first two days were nightmare. The home was not clean when we arrived despite the two cleaning people we saw there, and we spent all afternoon Saturday first going to the store to buy cleaning supplies then taking them to the house to make it livable. But the "TV" room in the converted garage couldn't be helped - it was dirty, moldy, spidery. Even the kids didn't want to sit in there. There's an old rusty refrigerator and another fridge sitting in the breezeway where you enter. Just weird. There's a ping pong table in the basement which was great, but the basement looked like something out of a horror movie. The overall feeling was that the owner bought the house to rent and doesn't particularly know or care how the property is maintained. Also, it's a very old house and so some mustiness is to be expected. But the lack of care really hit hard at the beginning because we paid so much for the week. When planning our vacation I communicated several times with Denise, who let us go into the house to look around before we committed. She was very easy to work with during the planning stages. I emailed her to specifically let her know the house didn't seem clean when we went, and also specifically asked if it was well stocked with cleaning supplies in case we had to do touch ups. She assured me it was professionally cleaned and would be spotless and that there would be plenty of supplies anyway. Neither of these statements were true. I even had to pull out all of the shelves and drawers in the main refrigerator and scrub them before we felt comfortable putting food in there. I tried to contact Denise to let her know what bad shape the house was left in, and she still has never gotten back to me. Even so this was a great house, yard, deck to spend a week in if you don't mind getting it into shape first!"
