  • Very clean, spacious, modernized vacation home!

"This is a much overdue review - we and another family stayed in the house for 3 nights over the Memorial Day weekend. We really enjoyed the stay - the location was quiet; the house was spacious with all the essentials well stocked. We could tell the owner paid a lot of attention to detail in maintaining the house. The instructions were perfect and easy to follow. The kitchen was large and the living room and dining room were quite nice. The house overall is nicer than the townhouse we stayed in the Wyndhum resort last year and we would recommend it to anyone, especially families with children! The only drawback is that you need a pass to the Wyndham Club House, but if you stay with other families (like we did) who stay in Wyndham, they will let you in. But all in all, this is a great vacation house to stay in! Thanks to the owner who takes pride in taking care of the house and the guests!"

  • The perfect house for our Kauai vacation!

"I did a lot of research before choosing Akala Pua for our Kauai vacation. On paper, the price was good, and the house seemed to meet all our needs. When we arrived, I was pleased that everything was as advertised. As you walk in the front door, the ground floor has 3BD/3BA. This worked well for us, as each of our two kids could have their own bedroom and bathroom. The beds were comfortable. There is also a laundry room with late model washer/dryer. (This really came in handy as our clean clothes started to dwindle near the end of our stay.) Upstairs is a large room with living area, dining area (with large dining table), and a kitchen. The kitchen was well-supplied: the only thing we really needed to buy to cook meals was the food. This room has high vaulted ceilings that added to the sense of space. There were numerous windows all over the house that could let the trade winds in, and ceiling fans in every room. This allowed us to stay relatively comfortable during hot humid days and nights. The location was ideal. A five minute walk west on Lawai road takes you to Lawai Beach, which is a bit rocky, but has good snorkeling (you can rent snorkel equipment right there at Boss Frogs). A five minute walk west takes you to the Kukui’ula Shopping Center with some good restaurants and shops (and generally has several musicians in outside in the evenings to). For shopping, the Kukui’ula Market is about a block away (a lot less expensive than the Living Food Market in the shopping center!). A five minute drive takes you to the Poipu Beach Park, with great swimming/wading for the family, as well as some really good snorkeling. Restaurants in the resort/tourist areas are generally good but expensive. I recommend also trying out diners and cafes frequented by locals as the food is excellent, copious, and reasonable. You sometimes have to search those out. Here are a couple of suggestions: Tip Top Café in Lihue and the Waipouli Deli & Restaurant in Kapaa. We called the management company (Garden Island Rentals) once with a question. They were responsive and friendly. We had a great time in the perfect house for a family."

  • Such a great place to gather!

"Just got home after a long weekend at the ranch with our large family group and it was such a great place for us to gather! Plenty of outdoor space to enjoy early morning coffee or a late evening cocktail; plenty of things to do for all ages; and very welcoming indoor space that made us feel at home and comfortable. There's nothing fancy here, and that's perfect for the location and for our large group of siblings, spouses, and older aged kids who just need a space big enough to get together. It's homey, comfortable, and just what we needed for quality family time! The game room was great for all; the pool area was perfect for hot Texas summer days; and even though the river isn't right out the back door, it was close enough for a fun afternoon of hanging out, swimming, and floating for those of us who wanted to do so. There was plenty of space in the main house for different activities to take place at one time when not enjoying the outdoors - cards at one table, dominos at another, and a board game at another! Ranch owners are very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating during the booking process, upon arrival, and while we were there for anything we needed or had questions about. Thank you Melinda and Charles for sharing your little piece of heaven with us - we had such a great time! The Poco Loco Ranch will surely stay on the list of places that work for our group!"

  • Clean, Nice, convenient location

"Our family enjoyed the experience of being in a home and not cooped in a motel room! Loved being able to walk to the river from our cabin. Also, it is close to town for grocery shopping and antique shopping! We will definetlystay here again when we want to visit this area."
