  • Perfect Spot for Rest and Relaxation - Highly Recommend!

"Let me begin by saying that the photos of The Sand Home do not do the house justice. Katherine really did think of everything in outfitting the home, from providing all linens (sheets, towels and beach towels), having a fully equipped kitchen, and recreational items (beach chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas, games, and bikes). Our group - 3 couples and 1 single (all adults) - felt the home provided ample private space for us to retreat when we wanted to go our separate ways, as well as ample communal space. We can definitely see how families with children would love it. The covered porch was a perfect setting for group meals (dining table seats 8) and just for relaxing on the rocking chairs and swing. Really great breeze in the mornings and evenings. All the bedrooms have A/C but we really didn't have to use it - the temperature dipped enough in the evening to just open the windows and let the breeze blow in. The home is only a 3 minute walk to Mackerel Cove - the premier swimming spot in Jamestown; 2 minute drive to the closest grocery store and 3 minute drive to the ferry to Newport. You really cannot find a place that is more perfectly situated. Katherine was great - provided very clear instructions for check-in and check-out and responded to emails we sent during our stay. The party before us checked out late, which delayed our check-in (Katherine was uber apologetic about the delay and wanted to take the extra time to make sure the house was ready for us - it was immaculate!). Katherine in turn allowed us to check-out an hour later at the tail end. Katherine also provided some great recommendations for local eats and activities. The one thing folks should note - the upstairs bathroom has a clawfoot tub which is better suited for baths and giving children a quick wash - all those in my group felt more comfortable using the shower downstairs (we have old knees and couldn't squat for too long). In sum, we had an awesome time, would definitely stay at The Sand Home again and would highly recommend the home to others looking for a wonderful place to get away from it all!"

"We've been renting in the Westerly area for several years and this has been our best find. Looking out from the kitchen onto the pond is so relaxing and peaceful. Kayaking around the little islands was serene and private. The yard is huge and flat with some beautiful trees. The house is hidden from the road, and the neighbors are far enough away that you feel you are the only people in the area. The house is full of charm and the owner very kindly provides all linens. The beds are comfortable, the AC works great, and the kitchen is well provisioned and welcoming. We will definitely return."

  • Fantastic Family Vacation

"Four generations of our family (ages 9 months to 86 years old) got together and rented this house to spend a week 'at the beach' in Narragansett in July. The only problem was that we quickly realized that we had everything we needed for a perfect family vacation right there at the house and we didn't spend one day on the beach! We were all happy to hang out at the pool and lounge, swim or just relax on a float. The outdoor kitchen was amazing and allowed us to cook out for many of our meals in style. We also ate all of our meals, including breakfast, outside on the patio to take advantage of the gorgeous back yard. We did eventually venture out to dinner at some local seafood 'crab shacks that we thoroughly enjoyed...Monahans, Champlins and Aunt Carrie's (best fish and chips). The house itself was open and roomy and the family room is perfectly situated away from the rest of the house so as not to bother the sleeping kids when we had lively games of pool or when we were playing cards. Robin is super easy to work with and communication is timely and very friendly. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a great relaxing family vacation and we hope to return sometime in the future."

"Beautiful home in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of room for 8! Close to downtown with no traffic to deal with; Uber was the easiest way to get to downtown as parking was extremely limited and costly ($20). Uber both ways for us was only $10 and we were able to enjoy all that Newport has to offer without any frustrations. This home is equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay; however, we were so busy that we basically only slept here! The cliff walk was gorgeous, tour of the mansions, Block Island day trip, the list goes on! One could easily spend a month here and never see all that there is to see! Finally, the home owner is fantastic and supports our military! Quick to respond to any request and super friendly. Highly recommend for families who want to enjoy all that Newport area has to offer!"
