  • The BEST Beach Rental I Have Ever Had

"I have stayed at Folly Beach 6 times, (Hilton Head 3 times, Sullivan's island once), and I must say that this is the best beach rental I have ever had. Folly Beach is by far the most reasonable of the Charleston area beaches. With about a 20 minute drive to Charleston, is is possible to enjoy the beach during the day, and still shop and enjoy Charleston restaurants in the late afternoon and evening. I rented this house for myself and 5 high school friends. As "women of a certain age, " we tend to be very particular about our surroundings. This property did not disappoint!! This house is on the quieter end of the island (at least in Mid may), and about 1.2 miles from the center of town, and about 2/10 mile from the County Park. It is the first time I have stayed at this end, and I have to say it is the prettier end of the Island. This 5 bedroom, 4 1/2 bath house is well appointed. Tree of the bedrooms have a private bath; two share a "Jack and Jill" bathroom (a private entrance from each bedroom). All of the bedrooms are quite large; 3 have queen beds, 1, a king, and 1 has 4 single beds. The laundry is on the second floor (as are 4 of the bedrooms). The large kitchen/dining area has all the necessary appliances and utensils (2 coffee makers, a microwave, oven, and the necessary beach blenders!). The living room is large, overlooks the large back deck and private boardwalk to the ocean. The owners are easy to deal with and communicate well with prospective renters. The only note I have for renters is that you need to bring your own beach towels, and beach chairs (although there were several serviceable beach chairs when we were there that had been left by previous renters). Also, bring some soap. Although each bath had some liquid soap at the sink, there was no soap or gel for the tubs and showers. This may have been a one time oversight, and in NO way detracted from our enjoyment of this beautiful home! I would definitely rent it again. It is an A+ property."

  • Paradise at Folly

"Be ready to be impressed! This place had the amentities of a hotel (and then some) with the comfort of a home. This was our first time in South Carolina and this house made our trip incredible. The house is extremely spacious and the owner, Ross, spared no expense. We would certainly book this house again for another unforgettable vacation! We highly recommend this reasonably well priced house for an enjoyable time for everyone!"

  • Great vacation property very close to the beach

"My family and I really enjoyed this rental. I showed up having packed all kinds of little things that rentals often don't have or are "just about" to completely run out of, and it was a really pleasant surprise to find the house fully stocked with all kitchen essentials, tools, etc. you would want or need. (The only thing that was "almost out" was the laundry detergent, no biggie.) The kitchen is above average for a rental, and the entire space is nice. Proximity to the beach is amazing. It's a 7-8 minute walk, which we all really enjoyed and made it so easy to go back and forth when you wanted. Center St and restaurants are a 10-15 minute walk, which probably would have been fine, except it was pretty hot the day we tried it. From then on, we drove :D but biking would also have been nice. The A/C worked well, which we needed, as it was hot and muggy out several days we were there. Ceiling fans in all the rooms is nice, though a couple are off balance and so, make a slight noise (I'm noise-sensitive, so had to turn those off, but most people might not even notice this). Furniture in the living areas is very comfortable, which you do not always find in a vacation rental. Also, the owner Beth is incredibly responsive to any issue you have. We had a slight issue with not all cleaning being done before our arrival but it turned out this was due to having to use "temp" cleaners, and Beth is going to be refunding the entire cleaning fee paid in light of this, and also offered us to have the cleaners come back out if we wanted (we didn't). This was a great response by her. Even though this happened, the property seemed generally very clean, i.e., no cobwebs (which we do sometimes run into in vacation rentals). The only negative for us for potentially staying here again is that there is no king sized bed, but unfortunately that's hard to find in a rental. Also, the grill/smoker is charcoal, while we prefer propane. Still: Highly recommended."
