  • Nice place for our girls weekend!

"The River Dolphin was nice! We had 7 girls there for a bachelorette party weekend! The house is walking distance to the bars and restaurants as well as to the beach. It is closer to the bars and restaurants than it is to the beach. Although, basically the bars and restaurants are just between the house and the beach. House on one end and beach on the other end. So, if you stayed closer to the beach you would still be very close to the bars and restaurants too. From the house, the walk to the start of the bars and restaurants is about 5 minutes and the walk to the beach is about 10 minutes. We did not rent a golf cart and we didn't really need one, but I think it would be a good idea if you are going to go to the beach every day. We stayed four nights and only went to the beach 2 days. Dunes Properties said you can get a discount on the golf cart if you mention Dunes Properties. The house was plenty big enough for everyone. It was nice having 3 full bathrooms! The house sleeps 10, but I think 10 adults would be a little too full. You could make it work though! We were able to squeeze 3 vehicles in the garage for one night, but it is only meant for two vehicles and a golf cart. It is one long narrow garage where you have to double park. You cannot park side-by-side. There really also isn't any street parking. There were a few spaces that looked like visitor parking, but I'm not exactly sure that they were intended for that. The garage door was not working properly and I notified Dunes Properties. They were supposed to be getting someone to fix it. It would open just fine, but it would not close all the way, unless we did a little trick. We were able to get it closed by making it go down, stopping it midway, then making it go up and stopping it, and then making it go down again. Then it would close all the way. The only problem was we had to have someone stay in the garage to do that, then go back up through the house and out the front door to make sure all the doors were locked. We had to close the garage door from inside the garage. We could not do it from outside the garage. Just a little inconvenience, but no big deal. At least we were able to get the door closed! The porch off of the living room is screened in, which was really nice! I think the bugs would be really bad, if it wasn't screened in. The cost to UberXL downtown Charleston on Friday night for 6 people was about $35. The cost to Uber home for 3 people was only $16."

  • Exceeded our expectations. The pictures don't do the property justice. Relaxing vacation house.

"First, I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I could complain about little things, but they didn't affect our time there with a couple exceptions. The WiFi never did work for us. I didn't notify anyone, because we used our iDevices to access the Internet. I should have mentioned this before we left in all fairness. My biggest complaint was the lighting. The light switches for lights that did work were in weird places -- often very far from the lights they operate. Some switches seemed to do nothing. The outside lights didn't seem to work at all except for the spotlights. However, the spots must be turned off after 10 PM, at least during part of the year because of turtles on the beach. The living and dining area was somewhat dark. The bulbs are too dim, and there aren't enough lights and lamps. The bedrooms and bathrooms were dim or lacking enough lights I thought. The washer and dryer are outside under the house. While this isn't any real problem by itself, there are no lights -- or at least that could get to light up. This is a security concern; though the area felt very safe in general. Safely navigating the stairs during the day requires care and more so at night; the stairs going up to the deck to the house are rather steep. The location is secluded and quiet. The beach is great; step off the private deck onto the beach itself. The house was clean, and the kitchen was well stocked though the knives are very dull. The beds were comfortable. There were plenty of additional pillows blankets and towels. There were enough cleaning supplies and a working vacuum cleaner; this place is literally right on the beach -- there's a lot of sand. The place is decorated in a sort of whimsical 'beachy' way with some clever little touches. This place definitely does not have the sterile condo-like look. The living and dining area is large with plenty of seating. The view from the living room to the ocean was spectacular. The deck was amazing. I loved sitting there on the rocking chairs and getting some sun in the ocean breeze. Sitting out there in the morning before the sun made me want to get up early the next day. Sitting out there at night looking out over the water listening to the waves and looking up at the stars...if that doesn't relax you, I don't know what will. The view and the deck made our vacation. We love the Charleston and the area. There is so much to see and do, and so much history. Dealing with Chris was easy and a friendly experience."

  • Slices of Heaven Around Every Corner

"The previous reviews noting frequent return visitors say it all....you won't want to leave, and you'll definitely want to return! A week at Sun Love is the perfect remedy for those who need to get away from it all and become completely relaxed, yet adventure awaits around every corner! The house is the perfect distance to everything: about 7 minutes walk to the beach, 3 minutes walk to a local, funky but delicious market and shady outdoor bar, and 5 minutes walk to downtown. We cooked amazing meals on the back deck grill, ate til we were stuffed, yet didn't gain a pound as we were addicted to walking around the shady neighborhood, out for a beach sunrise, to town, or out on the pier, which is beautiful and free to the public. Sun Love is quaint and well-maintained. Watch the local traffic from the front screened porch, or relax while the grill cooks on the back screen porch. The showers have great pressure, a side note but something that feels wonderful after a day (happily!) covered in sand and sunscreen. Take a short drive down to Folly Beach County Park, pay just $8 for a car load, and walk all the way around the corner and you have the chance of spotting dolphins just yards from the shore. In late August, we also had the wonderful fortune of watching baby sea turtles make their voyage to the ocean. Just keep your eyes out for the great volunteers with the Folly Beach turtles. While we cooked a lot in the well-appointed kitchen with Cuisinart pots and pans and updated appliances, we also enjoyed some delicious food downtown. The Dop-In Deli has great, unique affordable sandwiches, the Crab Shacks shrimp appetizers go perfect with a margarita for an afternoon snack, and for a rustic but best-seafood-you'll-ever-have, head just a few minutes down the road to Bowen's Island. Hit it at sunset and you'll catch wall-worthy family photos! To top it off, the owner is wonderful and helps relax you even more. Always respectful of your privacy, yet once you meet her you'll want to share a drink! Can't wait to return with our family. One of our favorite vacation spots yet."

  • Great house for a relaxing vacation!

"My family and I stayed at this home last week and had a wonderful time. We were lucky and had unseasonably warm weather for the holidays so we were able to enjoy all the porches and the great views. Sitting outside with drink and enjoying the sunset was incredibly relaxing. The house was very well kept and clean and we immediately felt at home in the space, we didn't want to leave! I had a ton of questions before we arrived and the listing agent was very responsive and patient and made everything very easy. My family and I enjoyed ourselves so much that we want to return next year!"
