  • Great house in a great location

    "I spent a week at this townhouse on Folly Beach and my family had an absolute blast. The house was very comfortable and perfect for a beach outing with a family, even a large one like my own. One room has accommodations for fours (although best if they are kids), then a nice master suite and a main level third bedroom. The kitchen is not huge but just fine for a week at the beach. There is a screened in porch and an upper level deck off the master. If I had one minor criticism, it would be that the kitchen was not quite as well stocked as I would have hoped - we had a couple of kids that came down later that had to bring down a couple of large pans for us as the ones onsite were either small or in very bad shape. This was a minor point and we would have made do no matter the case. The things that we loved about the place: beach was walk-able, about 10 mins with little people. Many people had golf carts and they were available to rent but we did not do this. This condo is on the far side from the beach, which makes access to the inland waterway very quick. This proved great for us as we brought paddle boards and these do much better in calm waters and you don't want to haul those long distances. There is a pool which is not huge but my kids all enjoyed it immensely. They have a grill onsite which is perfect for those that like to grill. The property was well maintained, clean, and had everything we expected from Wi-Fi to laundry facilities. I think the real magic though is Folly Beach itself. This is a great spot, with about ten restaurants that are all walk-able and we did not have a bad meal. Which Doctor and the Lost Dog were probably our favorite, and Loggerheads was a nice spot with a great house beer that is terrific. The beach was great - not overly crowded but with lifeguards, nice sand, great surf (some days exceptionally large surf great for the big kids less so for the littles). There was a Surf School right at Folly as well so if you ever wanted to learn or let your kids try it was pretty affordable and right there. We tried the farmer's market they have on Wednesday and found it rather small but we got a few nice treats. There is a larger market on Sunday on James Island (<10 miles away) which had a pretty good selection. If you can hit the Charleston farmers market on Saturday that is fantastic - huge and so many great items. Stop by the Angel Tree which is about 20 mins away - super cool ancient oak."

  • Great little beach cottage with perfect location

    "We loved spending Memorial Day weekend here. Everything was clean and functional and big enough for a family of five. Loved the roof top patio with ocean view and cooked some great seafood on the brand new grill. Great location 50 steps to the beach (my son counted) in a quiet part of the island. Owner/manager was extremely accommodating and responsive, overall great experience. Will book again on our next trip to Folly!"

  • House was great with beautiful views but needs work

    "The house was just what we needed as far as space and beautiful water views with great bedrooms and spacious kitchen and dining with large dining table. We were there for my son's wedding and were housing several family members arriving for the wedding. But we did have a couple of problems. When we arrived all the bedding on the 2nd floor was laying in the floor and the office had closed. The 1-888 # was not helpful at all and said we would have to wait until the next day when someone was back in the office, which was unacceptable as I had family coming in that night to occupy the beds with no bedding. So I give the customer service 1-888# a big fat ZERO. However, Craig at the Dunes office called me back and immediately contacted the maid service and found out there was a miscommunication as they had cleaned the house and made the beds and when someone came to replace the mattress pads, they left the bedding off. Maid service came back over at 7:00 pm and made the beds with fresh linens and vacuumed that floor, for which I was very grateful. Then that night the smoke detectors beeped all night. Again I called the office, and Craig had maintenance come and fix the detectors that day. So Craig at the office at Dunes properties was great and helped make our stay as good as it could be by addressing the issues. We all loved the house, however, from what I understand, it had been vacant awhile and it showed. It needs a deep cleaning. It was superficially cleaned and the downstairs floor had sticky spills on it, the counters were not wiped thoroughly and it was dusty. Including webs on the rockers outside and the steps up to the front door. Also the dishwasher is old and had to slam several times to get it to stay closed and has broken parts. The house just needs some TLC and updating, but it is spacious, beautiful and a beautiful location and served the purpose for what we needed for the wedding weekend. I would use it again."
