  • A lovely home with a location that can't be beat!

"My family and I spent a week in this lovely home. It was exactly as described on the VRBO site. Overall, it was quite clean and everything was in good working order, especially the dual AC units (one for the upstairs and one for the main floor) This was important as it was quite hot the week we were there! The kitchen had more than enough plates, cups, glasses, pots, pans, etc for our needs. Plus, there was a pantry of staples (sugar, salt, pepper, vinegar, oil, etc) probably accumulated over the summer. The owners were great in their communication with us and answered all of the questions that we had prior to and after renting the house. The information book in the house about the amenities of Wild Dunes, information about local restaurants and sights, and operational instructions for the homes appliances/electronics was very helpful. But the best feature of the home was it's amazing location. We could see the Atlantic from both porches, and it was literally a 2 minute walk to both the beach and the swimming pool. It was also an easy walk to many of the Grand Pavillion extras (Ice cream shop, snack bar, the general store, the fire pit, bicycle rental) Being a runner, I enjoyed running the 3 mile loop by the golf course several times during our stay. The house was perfect for our family! We had a great time!"

  • Nice rental, good location in resort, could use a little maintenance

"The "less than 2 small blocks to the ocean" is a little misleading. Yes, a short walk allows you to SEE the ocean (can not access beach/water), but due to major beach erosion, you can not walk on the beach except in front of the Grand Pavilion (good stroll to the right of the home) or farther down to the left (where a removable sea wall is located). So the walk path is not direct and youngsters for sure need an adult to navigate. This home photographed very well...the living room sofa is different and the metal chairs on the screened porch did not have cushions (wooden ones are shown in the photos). The twin beds are very small with thin mattresses, so be aware they are for young children. Several of the lamps did not operate (the knob/switch was missing) and most of the blinds are missing wands to change slat direction (the 2 front bedrooms are really (really) affected by the street lamp in front of the home), so just little things like that need maintenance. All of the appliances work well and the home is clean and a nice wall-mounted TV is now in the living room. It is an easy walk (block or so) to the coffee shop, etc. Overall this worked for our family, but be aware you're not quite getting what is shown in the photographs and description."

  • Great location, amenities, host extremely responsive

"Had hotel reservation and decided to look for something else. This was perfect and actually cheaper than hotel. And we did not have to sit on the bed all day and leave for cleaning. This property has a great view. It is very well kept and has most everything you need. The host left wine and water which we very much appreciated. Was nice to spread out and relax, having two TV's allowed me to see some sports and wife to watch something else! The view from the bedroom is outstanding also, nothing better than waking up and seeing the water. Wild Dunes has much to offer, did not have time for golf but did tennis clinic for couple of hours, I am a bit advanced and I was able to get a great workout in. Just outside Wild Dunes is grocery shopping, would use that as opposed to small grocery inside Dunes, limited supply and cost more. The outside grocery was very very nice and had nice selection of wines. Its not too far a drive to downtown Charleston and we did do some things there, but Isle of Palms has many nice restaurants also. As we were booking we were hoped the pictures and listing did it justice. Our experience was even better than we hoped. I would highly recommend this place and thank the host again for his responsiveness."

  • Seasoned IOP vacationer

"Returning from another wonderful IOP vacation. We have stayed at many Wild Dunes condos/homes over the last 20 years. Mariners Walk is an ocean front complex about 2/3 of the way down beach toward the point. Good amount of beach even with high tide. This complex has 2 access points which is very nice. One has stair and the other a ramp so you can take wagon, wheelchair stroller as long as it has not rained significantly because the water can obstruct beach access. Nice pool with a separate baby pool. Not many chairs tables or shade. Very crowded in summer. Bedroom are good size but no king beds. Like the 2 full in one of the bedrooms instead of twins. The first floor is crowded with the huge leather sofa and kitchen is tiny. I like to cook and thus was not ideal! Many of the condos in the area in this price range have been remodeled and this one could use a little. Still pretty clean but carpet could use update. Lots of steps so better for those who don't have mobility issues. Nice owners who are easy to work with. Bring your own beach chairs if you don't like sitting on camping chairs."
