  • Home away from home!

"A perfect get away with all the comforts of home! We wanted to revisit the Charleston area because we have always loved it so much but wanted to add the beach element into our vacation this year. Once we arrived on Kiawah Island and walked in the Shade at Seascape we didn't leave. It's super convenient to restaurants, shopping and groceries @ Freshfields which we visited on a daily basis during our stay. The Shade is beautiful with it's décor and high end finishes. We will definitely be back!"

  • A Lovely Spacious Home!

"The photos do not depict how stately this home is...from its lovely grand foyer to the comfortable en suite bathrooms to the 10-foot ceilings and wide hallways! We loved having a truly comfortable and open floor plan for visiting and cooking together. The kitchen is very well stocked (all kinds of skillets, serving bowls, wine glasses, a blender, dish soap, etc.) and easy to work in while still being part of the group. Having bikes available in the basement was a true bonus! Tire pumps and tools handy if necessary. One of the most fun times was riding to the ocean at twilight on the bikes. A couple times deer were spotted up close. Our king-size bed/mattress was very comfortable, and our guests echoed this sentiment. The upstairs bedrooms are well-appointed (though we didn't find any extra sheets) and quiet enough for babies to take their day naps. There is a lovely painted wooden rocker which is perfect for taking a special photo of the little ones on the front landing. Brenda was extremely communicative and available any time I needed her by phone or by email. That is very important, because I couldn't find my papers upon entering the first gate to Kiawah! Brenda was only a phone call away. There were a few negatives (some unrelated to the home, I realize) and they include the following. The extreme heat and humidity prevented us from enjoying the screened-in porch or deck. The sauna-like conditions in August and "jungle-like" nature of the island kept away any breeze. But the air conditioners on both levels did their jobs, and we were quite comfortable inside. Further, the ocean is very dense with sand so the water is very murky. I recommend taking the available ocean floats located in the unfinished basement which were still sandy from the last guests. The lawn of this home is not suited for children to play outside as the foliage is densex and (BIG) spiders build huge webs all around. It is beautiful, but plan on the beach for outside play. Lastly, the rinse-off shower is located underneath the screened-in porch in a shed-like structure that is dark and closed in, a small issue because there are plenty of showers inside. We had such a good time in this beautiful home and want to thank the owners for listing it and for allowing us to experience the South Carolina's Kiawah Island!"

  • Spotless, Spacious Perch Amidst the Trees

"I was seeking a comfortable property near the beach with lots of recreational opportunities, and this one certainly met my get-away expectations. I was traveling alone; this spacious condo would nicely accommodate a family, with its open ambiance in the large living room that separates the two sleeping and bath areas. The sofa and love seat, accompanied by a huge coffee table are a great place to kick back and watch the large flat screen TV. The second bath has a door to the hall as well as the Twin BR. The king bed in the master has rather firm mattress, but pillows could use luxury revamp. Preferred 2nd bathroom to the master, as felt more spacious. Shower pressure great; 100% cotton comfy towels. Location of the villa is corner of Green Dolphin Way and Turtle Point Ln in very shaded building. Usually a light worshiper, I was soothed by the muted forest contrast from the brightness of the beach. Front bike racks to park your Kiawah bike rental, which can be ordered for direct delivery to your villa. Recommend rental for your entire stay! Be sure to include basket in your order for only $3 /stay. Arrived day after Hurricane Hermine affected area with gusty winds, and there was foliage down everywhere on the island. While the staff was cleaning as fast as practicable, it will take weeks to remove. Biking to beach access ramp trail #27 that borders the eastern side of The Sanctuary took 3-4 minutes, then 3 min to the bike racks, then 2 min walk across the wooden access ramps above the shrubbery and dunes. I don't see how it would be a 10 min. walk, particularly with small children and beach gear. As your marked parking pass is for villa space, there's not much of an alternative other than a driver dropping off others and taking bike back. You can also walk your bike onto beach itself, where at low and mid-tides, you can enjoy the most phenomenal experience of riding miles on a flat expanse of beach, even into the surf a bit :) Night Heron only Pool has 25m lap markings in 3 lanes, but go early, as families fill those areas 10-4. Water park for tots, except slides. Resort access HUGE + for this property. Kitchen well-equipped; no bug/gator/snake sightings were made; Nature Center is cool. Skip beach yoga; competes with AM maintenance. Sanctuary toy store & Fresh Fields Bookstore have great gifts. Go to Straw Market, Freshfields, or Harris Teeter for ice cream, as Sanctuary has obscene prices. Bobcats live far west end of island near river."

  • Perfect Kiawah Vacation House!

"I highly recommend this house for a family vacation in Kiawah! It is in a great location - easy walk to the beach, and close to the front gate. The rooms are all large, and there is a big master closet if you need to fit a crib/pack-n-play. The living area is open and there is a lot of space for large party dining. The owner was responsive, thoughtful and really just wonderful. If you are planning a family trip, girls weekend or golf weekend - you will not be disappointed with this house!"
