"We love Seabrook Island. This is the second time in four years that we have had a family reunion there. This time there were 29 members of my family attending. We rented 5 houses for this event. Our house by far was the most popular, not only because of its size, but also because it is set up perfectly for this type of event. With various seating areas we were able to hold a brunch without everyone sitting on top of each other. In the evenings the adults would sit in the screened in porch and rehash our lives, while the kids had a room with a tv, so they were content. They also worked on a puzzle that was supplied by the house. Their goal was to complete it before we left. Mission accomplished!
The management company was very responsive with the couple of problems we had. Our issues were resolved within a couple of hours, so we never had to sit around and waste precious beach time. It would have been helpful, however if the management company kept an inventory as to what the house had to offer. I had called and asked specifically about items for the beach, and was told there were only two chairs. When we arrived we discovered a canopy, an umbrella and boogie boards. These were all items we had hauled from Michigan.
The house was very clean, though there are areas that could b updated (all the bathrooms.)
It might just be us, but we would have found it helpful if the upstairs loft was actually a bedroom.
When we were there four years ago in June we were thrilled to happen upon the sea turtle tracks and seethe turtle patrol moving the eggs. We deliberately planned to go in August the view the turtles hatch. We were so excited when this happened. It is an amazing sight to see them make their way to the ocean. The other thing I really wanted to see was the dolphins strand feeding. It is a long walk along the beach to see this at Capn Sams Inlet, but so worth the effort.
Seabrook Island is a photographer's dream. Not only the property itself, with beautiful sunrises and wildlife, but also the surrounding area, specifically Boneyard Beach and Old Sheldon Church ruins.
The only complaint I have, is that a sign needs to be posted that the sand on the path to the beach is extremely hot. So hot, that my son-in-law blistered his feet. Something us northerners would never expect. We have hot sand, but nothing like that.
Upon leaving the house our grandchildren all agreed that this house we need to rent again. That is high praise."
