"We've vacationed many times in Hilton Head but this was our first time in Folly Field. It is definitely quieter and more residential than the hustle and bustle of the "touristy" sections of the Island. The beach is an easy 2 minute walk and BEAUTIFUL. This property is an older home in a mixed neighborhood and it's very well maintained. There is ample, comfortable seating inside and outside, the beds are fabulous and the whole atmosphere of the house is inviting. We unpacked, hid our suitcases in the bottoms of closets and relaxed! We spent most of our time in the backyard. The pool is phenomenal and it helps that it's solar heated, the temperature always felt right! The landscaping all around it made you forget you were anywhere else than in this fabulous little oasis. There is plenty of seating/lounging all around, and there is a covered area for shade lovers. We turned on the radio and lost hours of our days here. The downstairs kitchenette is awesome to have ~ we stored our drinks and snacks here so we could easily grab something while hanging out at the pool and I didn't have to worry about anyone running through the house dripping wet. The pool light made night swimming fun ~ we kept the main outside spotlight off so as not to attract bugs and never had a problem. My in-laws visited for a couple days and they were not fans of the spiral staircase inside, so I would say if you have older, unsteady guests with you, this is not ideal. They adapted quickly and used the outside stairs. We don't have toddlers anymore, so I can't speak to how they would handle it. It didn't bother the 4 of us, though, and my kids (11, 13) thought it was cool!
We rented at the end of a busy season, so we did walk into just a few issues that had been left behind. Karen was in contact with me immediately and worked quickly to remedy the situation. She is so easy to talk to!! Prior to our visit, she sent emails and was quick to answer any questions I had. She also offers some local recommendations and they were spot-on! LOVED Aunt Chilada's!
This property is 10 minutes to everything, if you do feel the need to leave this quiet bubble of the world ~ go North to find major chain stores like Barnes and Noble and the Tanger outlets, and tons of grocery stores; go South to Coligny and Harbortown.
If you need to forget the outside world for just a little while, this is the place for you!
Thank you Karen and John for opening your home to us!"
