  • Nice quiet place to relax

"We stayed here for a week during my daughters spring break and had a nice relaxing time. The area was still recovering from Hurricane Matthew in November, and there was quite a bit of construction work around. We were disappointed that the park and lighthouse were still closed, but we still had a great time on the private beach at Harbor Island. The condo is comfortable and had the items we needed to cook, etc during our stay. The property is located between Charleston and Savannah and is a good base for day trips to both."

  • Beautiful home

"We came for my son's marine boot camp graduation and it was perfect! It was close enough to Parris Island that we could go back and forth. It was a nice spot for my family to regroup! Would definitely rent again!! Thank you!!"

  • Beautiful, Quiet Island. Parking Costs Extra

"My friend and I decided last minute to go on a Labor Day beach getaway. We had never heard of Harbor Island, but decided to give it a shot. It's about a 30 minute drive from Beaufort, SC. Our stay was fabulous. The people at Natural Retreats were wonderful to work with. The condo was clean and stocked with just enough of everything we would need for the weekend: toilet paper, paper towels, travel size shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/lotion, soap, travel size laundry detergent and dish soap. There were clean towels and wash cloths, too. The island was beautiful and quiet. To my knowledge there is no public beach access so only residents/guests of the island have access to the beach. You have to go through a security gate upon entering the island (open 24 hours) just to gain entrance to the condo. A parking pass does cost extra for stays less than 7 days. You will have to pay for this after booking your rental. Wi-Fi is free, but connectivity is fair. I wouldn't plan an important online meeting/test while staying at the condo. We thought the ocean was a bit odd because at low tide (in the middle of the afternoon) the ocean recedes a good distance and the water becomes very shallow. There are definitely pros/cons to this. Just be aware that if you are the type that likes to get into the water, you should plan your beach time for earlier in the morning or in the evening. Mid-day the water will not even reach your knees depending on your height! Also, May to October is nesting season for turtles. If you plan to walk on the beach at night during that time, only flashlights that use red light are allowed (no white/yellow light). I would definitely stay here again. It was beautiful and quiet. I would recommend it as great place to go and relax or for a romantic getaway. If you want more of a party atmosphere or a place with a lot of restaurants/bars on the island, I'd look elsewhere."

  • the home was absolutely beautiful.

"We found the property beautiful. We were unhappy with the $47 per car parking fee, but it's in a gated community and I'm sure that money helps to pay the people tending the entrance. If you stay 7 days or more they waive the fee. The property page states that it sleeps 13. But only if you use the sofa. It truly only sleeps 11. We visited in December and found it a bit chilly for the person on the sofa and the girls in the Twin bed room, while the downstairs rooms were too hot because the heat was on trying to warm up the living room. None of the windows had screens so when the downstairs rooms were too hot we couldn't open them due to no screens. Only one bedroom had a TV, The boys found the bunks uncomfortable. (They are teens) smaller children would have been alright. Some of the back doors of the house did not close securely. We found the supplies not well stocked. But we did get an email informing us that they only stock limited supplies before we arrived. (One roll of tolet paper per BR. One roll of paper towels 2 trash bags etc. The knives were very dull it made prepping food difficult. No steak knives whatsoever. There were plenty of plates, glasses and pans. The house itself was beautiful with amazing views. The stove, dishwasher and refrigerator worked properly with the exception of ice machine not functioning and leaking onto the floor. The kids enjoyed the games Jegna, sorry and checkers. We did enjoy all being together for my nephews marine graduation, parris island is about 25 to 30 minutes away. Overall we loved the house but found managing a consistent temperature throughout a little difficult. Because of the open floor plan the master bedroom overlooking the living room...privacy was non existent. We were overall happy with our stay even though it sounds like I'm complaining, I'm just trying to give an honest review for anyone considering renting the property. I'm not sorry we rented this property, it would have been amazing in the summer. We did see dolphins swimming close to the shore. Great location for dolphin watching"
