  • Great place to stay.

"We stayed at this property for the month of March. The condo was well-equipped, and beautifully decorated with a beach theme, but not overdone. The beds and furniture were comfortable and there was a good supply of towels and kitchen supplies. The patio facing the pool and gated courtyard was lovely for sitting out in the morning with your tea or in the evening with your drink. The pool was not heated but some people still used it. The walk to the beach was a lovely walk and the beach itself is a good hard-packed shore. The owner was excellent to deal with and we would definitely rent here again and recommend it to friends and family."

  • Most amazing week ever!

"We parked upon arriving and before unloading anything....ran to the 'back' of the house, the beach. It is the most amazing view you'll ever experience! And...high tide or low tide? You DO have beach! We lived on the huge screened in back porch, all week. The house is clean, well equipped and up to date. We spent little time inside though. It is secluded...that's exactly what we wanted. You are in a state park but far from the coming and going of anyone visiting the park. We essentially had our private beach area. Several sea turtles came on shore to leave eggs/nests the week we were there! We explored the island daily. We visited "Lil' Blue" (the cabin still standing out in the water). We explored the "Bone Yard" of amazing trees the ocean claimed and left on the beach. We saw the remains of the cabins there long long ago. We bought groceries in Beaufort, on our way to the cabin, and didn't go back out except to visit long established and family owned Gay Fish Company (15 mins away). We'd watch the shrimp boats all day (from the back porch) then we would go buy fresh seafood for dinner that evening. If you are looking for swimming pools, water slides, amenity cards, and fast food places.....this is NOT your place to go. If you are looking for natural beauty, tranquility, gorgeous sunsets and "moon rises", shrimp boats, history, and wonderful natural surroundings.....this IS your place to go! We hope to go back.....again and again."

  • Perfect get away!

"My 6 year old granddaughter asked me to take her to the beach, while her sister was at camp. How could I refuse? They had just gone to a FL beach with the typical tourist thing going on. I'm not a fan of that environment since I grew up in south FL and was tired of all the people. I found this condo on VRBO.com and it sounded perfect. I emailed Kathy about the 'crowds' on the beach and was reassured there weren't any. We arrived at the condo and it was perfect for us. Very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed to stay for four days. The only thing I missed was a non-stick pan for scrambled cheese eggs. LOL! I'll donate one the next time I'm there. The bed was very comfy as well. Internet access was not that great but that's OK. We needed to stay off of it anyway. We were able to get onto Netflix on our iPad, so when we took breaks from the fun in the sun, my little sidekick could watch her shows. We LOVED the little screened in porch and had almost every meal out there. We only ate out twice, since she didn't want to leave the beach.. Picnics on the beach were a HUGE part of the day. Kathy has beach chairs in a closet so I didn't even have to take mine out of the trunk. The boardwalk to the beach was over a bog area where we got to see some turtles and birds. The boardwalk closest to the condo was closed but it wasn't far to the other one. Outside showers are convienent to wash the sand and salt water off before heading inside. The beach was great!!! During low tide, you could walk out and watch the crabs scurry around. Not many seashells though. High tide was great! We could walk out a LONG way without a drop off or deep water. The waves were not the normal ocean waves since it's inland. They were big enough for Brogan to play in and jump over which was fine with me. The beach was NEVER crowded!!! It was AWESOME!!! The pass to Hunter Island State Park was appreciated! What a fun place to visit. Make sure you stop at the Publix before getting on the island. There really isn't anywhere to pick up groceries while there. Kathy was a huge help during our decision making process. She described the area to a tee. We went to Dock Side Restaurant while we were there and it was FANTASTIC!!! Brogan isn't a fan of seafood, so she got the kids cheese pizza. OMG!!!! She said it was the best pizza she has ever had! It was SO GOOD!!!! I would highly recommend L101 to anyone!"
