  • Great family getaway in the offseason

"The place was fantastic for a family with kids. Great terrain around for some hiking and a bench along the hillside to see Harney Peak. The house was well stocked but had some minor issues with housekeeping - nothing that would prevent us from coming back. I loved how the house was within proximity of Deadwood, Rapid City, Hill City, Keystone, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Sylvan Lake, Badlands, National Caves, scenic drives (wild life loop, Iron Mountain, etc.) etc. Also, there is a vibrant scene with breweries and wineries. Lastly, Mickelson bike trail is nearby but the time of year and weather would not allow us to hit the trail. Around the house, we saw deer and my wife became a professional turkey caller. It was nice to grill out, the hot tub was a plus and outdoor fire place was great to sit around for some drinks. Looking at stars on clear nights was spectacular. It was great that the Easter Bunny made a stop on Easter and later took the family hiking to Harney Peak - a story that my family will remind me forever on how I almost got them killed on a holiday. Overall, my family and I had a very memorable and fun vacation over Spring Break and enjoyed staying at the house."

  • A Dream Come True!

"Always wanted to see the beautiful Black Hills of SD under a sparkling blanket of white snow! Dream fulfilled Dec. 31-2. Spent two nights in the breathtaking Timber Haus with my husband and our Yellow Labrador. It was unforgettable! The warmth of the fireplace, the serenity of the ranch, and the fortunate happening of getting to meet with Linda Flounders, the beautiful lady who made Newton Fork Ranch possible for all of us to experience! Wow! Cannot wait to return to experience the beauty of another season! Thank you! :)"

"Great Stay! This cabin is just as picturesque as the photo. The cabin is situated on a well maintained lawn with a tripping brook across front of property facing a beautiful rock face hill. We enjoyed the lack of cell service quieting the electronics and adding a level of serenity to the visit. The drive to Hill City is a bit long but the free grazing cattle added a bit of excitement to the sight seeing filled drive. Cabin was very clean and well maintained. The beds and linens were comfortable with good stock of cooking pans and utensils."
