  • Perfect Location in the Black Hills!

"We stayed almost a week in this beautiful cabin with our two sons (ages 10 and 13). It was so peaceful being able to see the forest and creek just out the windows. It seemed to be in the middle of all things fun to do. Hill City itself has everything you need from a Post Office, library and grocery store. There are great hiking, bike paths, lakes, 1880 train, dinosaur museum, cute restaurants, and a number of wineries. We were there during the "off season", but many things were still open. It was actually the perfect time because we had many things all to ourselves. We hiked around Mount Rushmore, viewed Crazy Horse, toured Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, swam in Evan's Plunge, drove the wilderness loop in Custer State Park, ate at Burgers & Buns in Custer (a must - great burgers), walked around Sylvan Lake, visited Reptile Gardens and the Air & Space Museum. We were even able to take in a RUSH hockey game in Rapid City. We saw mountain goats, big horn sheep, countless mule and whitetail deer, coyotes, prairie dogs, blue birds, bald eagles, bison and so much more. We also were able to tour both Wind and Jewel Cave. There are endless things to do, but I think we did most of them. It was a delightful trip and the cabin provided a clean, fully stocked, beautiful, cozy place to relax in the evenings. There were games, puzzles, and books at the cabin. Soaking in the hot tub under the stars after a long day of sightseeing was the perfect end to our fantastic days. We feel so blessed to have stayed and can't wait to go back."

"Great Stay! This cabin is just as picturesque as the photo. The cabin is situated on a well maintained lawn with a tripping brook across front of property facing a beautiful rock face hill. We enjoyed the lack of cell service quieting the electronics and adding a level of serenity to the visit. The drive to Hill City is a bit long but the free grazing cattle added a bit of excitement to the sight seeing filled drive. Cabin was very clean and well maintained. The beds and linens were comfortable with good stock of cooking pans and utensils."

  • Timber Ridge Lodge

"We just returned from our South Dakota vacation and rented this property for our 4 nights in the Black Hills area. This was a wonderful place for us to stay. The location is perfect for taking in sights around the Rapid City area. We were within an hour of all the places we wanted to visit: Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park. It was so fun to be in a remote location yet only a 10 minute drive to town. We loved all the stars we were able to see...it's the best stargazing I have ever seen! Also waking up to turkey, deer and even cows in the yard was a treat! Our kids enjoyed the large yard and the swings. The inside of the house is very comfortable with many different seating areas. It was nice to have the kids in one room watching a movie and the adults could be in a different room. Everything we needed was provided...the house was clean and felt like home. Our kids didn't want to leave! We will definitely rent this property again if we get back in the area."

  • Just what we were looking for.

"We had a great vacation staying at this house. The location was close to all the major sites we wanted to see. I was impressed with how stocked the kitchen and bathrooms were. The kitchen provided all the things we needed to have a few meals in the cabin instead of going out to eat all the time. We really enjoyed the wildlife we could view from the deck in the morning and evening. We are 2 couples who are empty nesters looking for a fun week away and this helped make it a great adventure. We will definitely come back to stay at the Tin Mill Cottage."
