  • Black Hills Motorcycle Rally in Comfort & Style with Carol, Lin and Lefty

"We have been coming to the Black Hills for years to enjoy the annual motorcycle rally. Past years we have went the camp ground route with variations of tents, campers, and RVs. This is the first year we wanted to join the civilized world and get out of the dirt. We lucked out when we found Shady Grove! We rented the two-bedroom/two-bathroom downstairs unit. One bedroom had a king bed; the other bedroom had a twin and two single beds. The unit had a living room with a queen sleeper sofa, a roomy dining area, and a large private deck. The kitchen had every possible thing you would need sans food. Items provided in the unit included all towels, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, fuel for the gas grill, and cooking spices. The cabin could not have been more turn key. Carol kept us abreast of weather warnings so we could put our bikes in the garage and Lefty never failed to keep us company as we grilled our dinner out at night! The Black Hills Motorcycle Rally does not change much from year to year, what changes are the people you meet and the places you live. Carol, Lin and Lefty ensured this was our best rally by allowing us to stay with them at Shady Grove. I do not see a future trip to the Black Hills not including a stay at Shady Grove!"

  • Excellent facilities and extra amenities

"We had s family reunion there and had an excellent time. The house and property was in great shape and there was nothing that we needed that was not available for preparing meals and relaxing with a variety of activities available. I would certainly recommend this venue for your family get together. It's right outside of Sturgis and offers a great opportunity to do all that's available in the Black Hills."

  • 2016 Pre-Sturgis Vacation

"We stayed at the Dragon Lair cabin for the 8-days prior to the 2016 Sturgis Rally. The cabin is nearly new and centrally located to all the local Black Hills attractions. The cabin is clean, well maintained, and equipped as described on this website. We were very comfortable and relaxed through our stay at the cabin. The deck covers two sides of the cabin with three sliding doors for excess. The roof extends out to cover a portion of the deck and is perfect for outdoor dining. While relaxing on the deck we were able to view deer and turkeys work their way through the area. Our time was spent touring the Black Hills on our motorcycles. We used the cabin for our home base. The lower level of the cabin is a huge garage and we were able to use half of it, which definitely was an amenity we would not have at a hotel. We enjoyed ourselves and were not ready to leave at the end of our 7-day stay. We called David to inquire about renting an extra day and he agreed. We still haven’t had enough and plan to go back next year."

  • Relaxing family vacation

"We enjoyed our stay in the beautiful Black Hills. The house was perfect for our needs and had every possible convenience. Our kids loved playing in the creek and on the gorgeous property. We all enjoyed mornings and evenings on the beautiful deck! There were plenty of adventure opportunities nearby like horseback riding, ATVing, and swimming at the lakes."
