  • Our fall family trip, 2016

"Our family of 10, had a wonderful experience staying at ole #7. Large, beautiful but warmly comfortable cabin was so welcoming. Felt like staying at a friends house. Enjoyed seeing the families pictures & personnel interests in every room. The scenery, amazing! Saw wild turkeys walk out from under the deck, deer crossing the fields, and the stars at night so close you felt you could touch them. Thank you for sharing your home with us. The Davis, Mulloy & Holloway family's."

  • Just what we were looking for.

"We had a great vacation staying at this house. The location was close to all the major sites we wanted to see. I was impressed with how stocked the kitchen and bathrooms were. The kitchen provided all the things we needed to have a few meals in the cabin instead of going out to eat all the time. We really enjoyed the wildlife we could view from the deck in the morning and evening. We are 2 couples who are empty nesters looking for a fun week away and this helped make it a great adventure. We will definitely come back to stay at the Tin Mill Cottage."

  • Perfect Location in the Black Hills!

"We stayed almost a week in this beautiful cabin with our two sons (ages 10 and 13). It was so peaceful being able to see the forest and creek just out the windows. It seemed to be in the middle of all things fun to do. Hill City itself has everything you need from a Post Office, library and grocery store. There are great hiking, bike paths, lakes, 1880 train, dinosaur museum, cute restaurants, and a number of wineries. We were there during the "off season", but many things were still open. It was actually the perfect time because we had many things all to ourselves. We hiked around Mount Rushmore, viewed Crazy Horse, toured Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, swam in Evan's Plunge, drove the wilderness loop in Custer State Park, ate at Burgers & Buns in Custer (a must - great burgers), walked around Sylvan Lake, visited Reptile Gardens and the Air & Space Museum. We were even able to take in a RUSH hockey game in Rapid City. We saw mountain goats, big horn sheep, countless mule and whitetail deer, coyotes, prairie dogs, blue birds, bald eagles, bison and so much more. We also were able to tour both Wind and Jewel Cave. There are endless things to do, but I think we did most of them. It was a delightful trip and the cabin provided a clean, fully stocked, beautiful, cozy place to relax in the evenings. There were games, puzzles, and books at the cabin. Soaking in the hot tub under the stars after a long day of sightseeing was the perfect end to our fantastic days. We feel so blessed to have stayed and can't wait to go back."

  • Book club retreat weekend

"This is the second year our book group has spent a perfect weekend enjoying this lovely property. Again we lucked out with perfect fall weather and had our morning coffee on the deck, later hiked nearby Gitchie Manitou followed by a hot tub back at the cabin. Everything you need is provided with ample space for a large group. We will definitely return. This is a real jewel and so close to home, yet you feel like you are really someplace special, which you are! Both visits we had dinner in Larchwood at the Main Street Grill, our server even remembered us from last year--so friendly and the food is great. Just a short 10 minute trip."
