  • A Nice New Year's Getaway

"My wife and I spent December 29th through New Year's morning at the Summit Condos in Gatlinburg. We stayed in the studio rented to us by Jim and Sheila Avery. We were very pleased with our accommodations. The condo was attractively and comfortably furnished and immaculately clean. The view of Mt. LeConte was as advertised: truly spectacular. The bed was excellent, and the bathroom, though small, featured an excellent shower. Inclement weather forced us to spend a great deal of our time in the condo, but it felt homey and cozy to us, especially with a warm fire crackling. I gave our condo four stars instead of five for two reasons. Closet space is at a premium, causing us to have to store luggage under tables and in corners. (Granted, we packed enough for a week-long stay.) But as it is a studio, there is probably not much the owners can do about this. However, I do recommend that they replace the cooking utensils; they did leave much to be desired. Those matters aside, we picked a perfect place to see in the New Year. (Of course, our joy was mitigated by the ruins of burned homes scattered across the mountainside; how the Summit escaped the wildfires is beyond me.) We would definitely consider a return visit - particularly in the autumn - and we would certainly recommend the Summit Condos - particularly Number 6105."

  • Just as Advertised

"Heavenly View is a cozy, warm little home away from home. Everything looks just as the pictures portray and more. What you can not see is the loft bedroom which is a cute yet private room. Our family of 7 adults and one toddler stayed the whole week of Thanksgiving and everyone had their own space, bedroom, and bathroom. The first floor living area has comfy couches and chairs and plenty of sitting at the dining table and even though the kitchen is small, it had everything you could need for making breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our family made our thanksgiving meal at the cabin. There is a grocery store a few miles down the road which we utilized for all our meals. Since the cabin is so far from town I suggest buying groceries. There were plenty of utensils and cookware. An ice maker, dishwasher and even coffee pot were used frequently during our stay. We did not use the hot tub however the views from the patio are lovely. I give it 4 stars simply because the drive is quite farther than we would have liked from town and some of the board games were missing pieces. There is an upstairs and downstairs which can be tricky with young children. The king bed was somewhat uncomfortable (but that is a personal preference) however we did get rest. Lois is wonderful to work with and extremely helpful with any questions. I definitely recommend this cabin."
