  • Vacationing in an Arcade

"Our family (Mom, Dad, and five children ranging from 1 to 13) stayed in this cabin for a week and loved it! Our biggest complaint was the fitted sheet in the master bedroom would not stay in place which made sleeping uncomfortable. The furniture is different than in the pictures. There is plastic theater seating in the basement with the projector, not plush recliners as shown. The living room furniture is also different; not as fancy as what is shown. The woods around the cabin have grown up so that the best view is from the 2nd floor rear windows. The hot tub worked, but is on a different side of the rear porch. The basement is only accessible by going through the master bedroom, outside on a deck, and down a spiral staircase. I would only allow older kids to sleep down there. The games were fun, especially the 80s arcade game with Ms Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga, and about 25 others. They do have some steak knives now, in case you were worried. We had an issue with the projector bulb and a bulb above the cook top. Both were repaired the same day by very courteous and friendly maintenance staff. The roads are scary; they taught me why vehicles have low gears. I used Low 1 and 2 gears in our van while going up or down the steep hills. We saw a mamma bear and three cubs outside the cabin one morning which made the trip for our kids."

  • Perfect stay in Gatlinburg

"We enjoyed our stay here so much. The house is very clean and there are more than enough towels for all guests. We really enjoyed being so close to the main strip in Gatlinburg, which was a very easy walk. The mountain views from the front porch are lovely. We would definitely stay here again! Bill was great and was available to answer any questions."

  • Perfectly quiet and clean with beautiful mountain view

"Our daughter wanted to get away to some place quiet for her birthday. This cabin was perfect! We even were able to bring our big dog. We were close enough to the National Park to go hiking and to Gatlinburg to do some shopping and see the aquarium but just far enough out to feel secluded. Our first morning in the cabin we were visited by a bear. He was just taking his time eating acorns right off the back deck. You barley notice the other cabins in the community from this one. There is a clear view of the mountains from the back deck. The owner is easy to work with and has done a great job keeping the cabin up to date and fully stocked with everything you need."

  • Away from it all, but not too far away

"My family of 6.5 (4 adults and 2 kids+ a dog) enjoyed 2-night stay in the Magnolia. If you are looking for a quiet, up in the mountain, but still close to attractions, get-a-way, I would highly recommend. The cabin was around 4 miles up in the mountain, taking you through some very tight, winding, steep hilly roads. However, we were less 10 mins away from downtown Gatlinburg and 15 from the most Southern point of Pigeon Forge. The cabin has the beautiful view you see in the picture from the deck. My kids really enjoyed the hot tub! As mentioned in another porch, we did have it go out one time, but you just have to reset it (button on bottom). The cabin was comfortable and clean overall. The beds were very comfortable and the pull out sleeping couch was also in great shape and perfect for our kids. The overall decor is nothing luxurious, but simple and cute. You can tell there has been minor updates/purchases, but I think the most wear I saw was on the doors and trim. We had a very large truck and full size car-parked just fine. I did e-mail Gloria one time regarding an index notecard with contact info for discount tickets left on the coffee table with other coupons and visitors guides. Come to find out, it was one of those vacation rental sales person contacts, so you had to do a 2-hour sit & listen presentation then get tickets. She did respond to me promptly. Overall, we did not spend a lot of time at the cabin, but this was a great location and value when compared to other lodging in the area, was located right in the middle of the hills of the Great Smokey Mountains! We were about half way up the mountain and literally above the 'smoke' of blue clouds rising in the morning. It was the perfect match of getting away, but not too far (the Food City grocery store was less than a mile off the main road down from the cabin). The only things I would recommend to Gloria or a 'good to know' about small details of the cabin: the bathroom towel rack fell a couple of times, the dryer does not get very hot, so will take longer to dry clothes, the doors and trim look like the originals and has the most wear of anything in the cabin, there was a low supply of towels for my family of 6, but would be fine with 4 or less (we just washed them), we went and bought some dishwasher detergent, although Gloria says you can use dishwasher soap, the bathrooms are tight and space is limited, a bath rug/mat outside shower, and some wall hooks for towels would be nice."
