  • A unique hillside cottage overlooking Cherokee lake.

"We enjoyed our stay very much. The property is located in a beautiful cove on Cherokee lake and offers many unique and personalized features. We loved the availability of two kayaks and a canoe in a addition to just lounging on the multiple decks and sitting areas. Pat and Virg were very accommodating and gracious to share their beautiful property with us. We hope to be able to return in the future."

  • Your own personal resort

"This property really is a great getaway! Very comfortable set-up. While the interior of the home is very nice and comfortable, it is the outside area that truly shines. There is literally something to please everyone- young and older. The hot tub and pool area with the outside kitchen area are simply great. It was colder weather during our stay, but we could envision what a great place this would be in the warmer months. Actually it was excellent hot tub weather. Views of the lake can be enjoyed from about every room. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch with comfy furniture and great views. There is also a fire pit and lounge area at the bottom of the easily traversed steps leading to the dock. It was nice having the fireplace and tv's in every almost every room. The steam shower in the master bath was a real treat. The kitchen had everything and more to prepare a meal, as well as, plenty of dinnerware and glasses for outdoor use. Very comfortable king bed in the master ( we didn't use the other bedrooms). Linens were of good quality. We rent many homes during the course of the year and this is a favorite. Oh, I shouldn't forget about the pool table, foosball, games, and movies, wifi, ect. Certainly recommend."

  • Great home for family gathering

"Our family of 12 from Kentucky and North Carolina met half way in Rutledge, TN at Bear Den South. We spent 4 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday. This property met all of our needs for the weekend. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with utensils, dishes, and appliances. We cooked several large meals without difficulty. The dining table was wonderful because it easily seated all 12 of us for a meal. The family room views are just breathtaking, and of course the views from the deck are as well. The wood burning fireplace was in working order and we enjoyed having a fire two nights. We did not use the fire pit due to a burn ban in the area. The property was one of the cleanest properties I have ever rented. Though the decorating in some areas is very dated, everything is in tip top shape. Clean, recently painted, etc. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean, which always makes a traveler happy! There were plenty of clean linens (sheets, towels, etc) but I would recommend that if you don't want to be delayed in your departure, to take your own, since you are required to wash and dry everything you use before you leave the property. The lake level was quite low due to the winter level established by the Tennessee Valley Authority but it made it easy to take long walks around the lake. We were even befriended by a deer who walked out of the woods and followed us for two hours, allowing us to stroke his head at one point! WiFi was available, but if everyone is using devices it is not strong enough to support. We drove to Panther Creek State Park, about 30 minutes away and did hiking trails. One group drove to Pigeon Forge (about 1 hour) on Black Friday and spent the day shopping. The house is easy to find. Most of our group drove in after dark, and we were able to navigate without a problem. We would definitely consider renting this property again! The owner was easy to work with and always returned emails in a timely manner. This is obviously a well maintained family get-away home that others will cherish as well!"
