  • Tranquil and Quaint Cottage

"The history of Wood Duck Inn is almost palpable when you walk in the 50-yr old house--from the vintage furnishings and family photographs to the stacked stone fireplace and knotty pine paneling. Like Wood Duck Inn, we have nearly 50 years of Norris Lake memories ourselves. On this trip, we fished, "bobbed" for hours with friends and family in the beautiful water near the cliff, had cookouts, and read books on the porch swing. Mill Creek cove is perfect for kayaking in the early morning or evening, when jet skiers have worn themselves out and gone home. On our last evening, we watched the Perseid Meteor Shower from our friend's dock. Beds are comfy, plenty of space for privacy, well-equipped kitchen (although the nostalgic Hamilton Beach mixer refused to cooperate!). Great communication with the owners. The home was nearly perfect for us. The ONLY reason we didn't give it 5 stars was beyond Martie and Scrog's control--thanks to TVA, the decreasing water levels on Norris Lake throughout the summer created shallow, rocky waters near the dock. Just something to consider if you have a large boat and want it within footsteps of your vacation home. You know it's a winner when you want to return and do it all over again! Thanks for sharing your treasure Martie and Scrog! Lisa and Tony"

  • Another great Yarn Patch retreat!

"This was our second year in this beautiful home - and we were not disappointed. Short of repeating everything we said and did last year, I can only add that this year we also had perfect weather! We were able to make use of the fire pit and enjoyed a beautiful evening outdoors, long walks through the neighborhood, and several mah-jongg marathons on the dock! We're already re-booking for 2017 and can't wait!"

  • Rick K from Dayton

"The house was everything we hoped for. Plenty of space, restrooms, it was very clean and updated. We enjoyed the shufflepuck game in the basement. Surround sound on every level. WIFI & House phone to keep touch with the outside world. Its in a perfect location, the dock has plenty of parking for our multiple watercraft. Very close to the Jump Bridge which was a happening spot! I would recommend the "Big Dipper" to anyone & everyone! I can't wait to come back"

  • Had another Great time at the lake!

"Nice, clean, very convenient being a short walk to the marina, superb, friendly and accommodating workers and management. Had a wonderful time. Dock steps and climb was a little sketchy with water being low but usable and being this time of year expected. Could not ask for better service and friendly staff, which in my book gets you guys the five stars!"
