  • Perfect getaway

"We can't say enough about this unique getaway! It was the best of both worlds. Staying at the lake, ON the lake. Close to the marina, but not hampered by crowds. I was concerned when we first got in because the marina manager told me that Saturday night would be a loud one (they have a DJ for end of summer party), but we didn't really hear anything. A couple of notes on our stay: -The bed in the master bedroom was probably the most comfortable that I've slept in as long as I can remember. -The second room, the "bunk room", is two full size beds. It's hard to figure out from the pictures. It does have a TV, but it's on a stand at the foot of the bottom bunk. No issues for us, just information to share. -This place has everything you could need, just be sure you have a boat! -Pack light, but pack groceries. The marina, as described on the lake map, says that it has groceries. It doesn't. It has beer / sodas / chips, but that's it. To drive into town to Wal-Mart is probably 15-20 minutes each way. There is a market at the bottom of the hill (about 10 minutes), but we didn't check that out. The marina does have a restaurant, we ate at it once, but unless you plan on eating lunch and dinner "out" every day, bring groceries with you. -Cell phone reception is very poor at the rental (I actually really loved that fact). Although it has Wi-Fi, we had issues with sending/receiving texts. Even at the marina was bad. However, if you exit the no-wake area of the marina and bank left into the first cove, there is a strong LTE signal there. We are all Verizon, just as a reference. -We had storms every day, and we loved it. The storms move in / out fast, and we enjoyed sitting on the deck swing (covered) while it rained. Very relaxing. -Loved waking up in the morning and taking the kayak out. So peaceful. -If you have kids, instruct them on the keypad lock. When you are "home", unlock it so you don't have to keep keying in the code. It sends Mark a message (and my kids were going in and out and in and out because they were so excited). -The toilet: Mark will give you info, but don't be "afraid" to use it. Just takes getting used to. Keep plastic bags handy for excessive toilet paper (like my youngest tends to use), and to flush it, there is a switch on the side you hold down. -DirectTV was in/out, but we brought movies and were there to disconnect :) We love this property, and we'll definitely be back to stay. Mark was great to work with, very responsive."

  • Tranquil and Quaint Cottage

"The history of Wood Duck Inn is almost palpable when you walk in the 50-yr old house--from the vintage furnishings and family photographs to the stacked stone fireplace and knotty pine paneling. Like Wood Duck Inn, we have nearly 50 years of Norris Lake memories ourselves. On this trip, we fished, "bobbed" for hours with friends and family in the beautiful water near the cliff, had cookouts, and read books on the porch swing. Mill Creek cove is perfect for kayaking in the early morning or evening, when jet skiers have worn themselves out and gone home. On our last evening, we watched the Perseid Meteor Shower from our friend's dock. Beds are comfy, plenty of space for privacy, well-equipped kitchen (although the nostalgic Hamilton Beach mixer refused to cooperate!). Great communication with the owners. The home was nearly perfect for us. The ONLY reason we didn't give it 5 stars was beyond Martie and Scrog's control--thanks to TVA, the decreasing water levels on Norris Lake throughout the summer created shallow, rocky waters near the dock. Just something to consider if you have a large boat and want it within footsteps of your vacation home. You know it's a winner when you want to return and do it all over again! Thanks for sharing your treasure Martie and Scrog! Lisa and Tony"

  • Top notch!

"Our group of long term friends and our young children recently stayed at Killin Time over the New Year's holiday weekend. Our group has been vacationing together for years, and have stayed at numerous rental homes. Although we have stayed at some very nice places, this house is the first that we have all agreed we would come back to. The home is spacious, comfortable, and it is clear that the owners are detail oriented and truly care that their renters have everything they need to relax and have fun. There was an issue with the furnace the first night we were there, and Mike had it fixed right away. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, there is a cabinet full of games, a nice sound system, and they even had kayaks and a paddle boat we could use had it not been too cold to use them. Our kids enjoyed the foozeball table, ample space to run around, and riding bikes in the quiet cul de sac just down the road. Sadly, it was winter, so we were unable to take full advantage of the lake, but we were hoping for a winter retreat in a beautiful location, and we got it. I will say that if you get carsick, like me, be prepared for about an hour of very windy roads once you get off the highway. And, if you visit in winter, be prepared that Lafollette is the closest place for supplies, and it is a good 30 minutes away. Overall, we were all very impressed and happy at this location, and we are hoping to come back this summer."

  • Amazing lake retreat

"This house is great for the famiy, gently sloping concrete path to the dock, amazing mountain views and access to the best watersports water in TN. The Ice machine is great along with the 2nd sink and seating in the basement. We bring our family and Friends to this house multiple times per year. Great vacation spot!"
