  • Beautiful Property

"Stayed at the farmhouse in November with two kids and two dogs. We had a great time, unplugged from electronics. The dogs loved to roam the huge property in search of rabbits and squirrels. The fall foliage was in bloom and the weather had just gotten cool so it was very comfortable. The home was perfect for what we needed. The only draw back was the dry conditions and forest fires in the Carolinas kept me away from having a bond fire. Would love to come back."

  • Adorable Creek-Side Cabin!

"This property listing's description was accurate, and the cabin was just like the photos provided--a cool, cute and cozy cabin. Plenty of towels and wash cloths, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish & dishwasher detergent, soap, so it was nice to not have to bring those items along or buy them after arrival. So great to have a washer and dryer! The setting, in a lightly wooded area with a beautiful creek below, was beautiful. The property is part of a larger, historic parcel of land, and the information provided about the history was interesting. It wast quiet and private, yet was actually very close to everything you may need. The large porch overlooking the creek was nice. The location was central to several other areas we were visiting (Kingsport, Douglas Lake, Bays Mountain Park, Warrior's Path State Park, Briar Hill Farms, etc.), and served as our "home base". The owner, Jake, was very pleasant and helpful, and quick to respond to emails and phone calls. We ate at The Mill restaurant one night, also owned by the property owner, and it was packed with locals and visitors, and that, too, was a good experience. Good food and friendly service while overlooking the creek and the little dam and waterfall. I would definitely recommend this to family and friends, not only for the great cabin, but also for nearby attractions, such as the Ebbing and Flowing stream, the dam and falls, the restaurant, the Thomas Amis house, and the proximity to all that Kingsport has to offer. Also nearby, in Gray, TN is the Natural History Museum, where an extremely important archaeological dig is ongoing. The only negative comments are that the kitchen needs a cutting board, the floors of the cabin were not as clean as I would have wanted, and the sofa bed mattress is extremely uncomfortable, but children could probably manage it okay. Adding a railing in the loft would feel a bit safer, as would completing the railing on one end of the porch. But even with those few complaints, I STILL would highly recommend the place to friends and family! It is an adorable little cabin!"

  • Good house for a family

"This was a good house for our family visit. The owners were very kind and helpful. The house was very clean and perfectly ready to settle in to bed. We were celebrating Thanksgiving together, and they made it a pleasant place for us. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, with a shared full bathroom off the hallway, and a half-bath attached to one of the bedrooms. This bedroom also has a view of the lake. All of the bedrooms are furnished and have good closet space. There are plenty of towels. Also upstairs is a living room, well, furnished with a couch and two large chairs. There's a large glass window, and a glass door, both facing the lake. The full kitchen is very nice and new, well stocked with cookware, flatware, glasses and dishes. There's a dining table for 6. We used the oven and stove several times. Downstairs, there's another full bathroom, and a large room with two pull-out sofas and bunk beds. The "basement" is very well lighted, with two doors facing the lake, and another other large window. There's a door to the basement stairs so that it's possible to block some sound. There's a TV downstairs as well. The Internet provided is from Charter, and it works very well. I measured 30 Mbps download speed. They have both 2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz networks available, and the range easily covers the house. There's a pleasant hill down to the lake. We hiked down the bank, crossed the inlet creek, and kept hiking further around the lake. The house is surprisingly close to town. It's in a nice neighborhood, past some farms, but only 10 minutes from a Wal-Mart, mall, movie theater, several grocery stores, and some restaurants."
