  • Perfect House for two couples or girlfriends getaway

"We loved this neat and tidy home in a quiet neighborhood! In short - a great rental at a great price - perfect for two couples! Thanks! WiFi, TVs, Cable, and DVD players all worked. Lots of pots and pans, a microwave, and a coffee maker. Plenty of toiletries and paper products were provided too, so we didn't have to bring those. There was also a hairdryer and full sized washer and dryer. No dishwasher and no garbage disposal, though, which could be a consideration if you're planning to cook a lot. We went out for the great local seafood, so not a problem for us. This is a great rental for people who don't mind a short walk. The Seawall is really close, and several good restaurants within a half mile. We liked Miller's Seaside grill for lunch or dinner. (huge portions, great crab dishes) We enjoyed the Sunflower Bakery for breakfast. (Mimosas and Oysters Benedict) The sleeping setup is - two bedrooms, both upstairs - one king and one queen. They share a hall bathroom. The stairs might not be great for little kids or anyone with difficulty climbing, but they were fine for us. There is a second bath downstairs, which was nice because you don't want to go up and down the stairs all the time! There is not a huge amount of outdoor space, but we enjoyed sitting on the front porch. We could feel the sea breeze and met a couple of the neighbors - very nice folks. We would happily stay here again."

  • Very convenient , an adorable cottage, quite roomy!

"We stayed in the two bedroom apartment in an adorable blue bungalow (Bishop's Bungalow) right across from the historical Bishop's Palace and Sacred heart Church on Broadway. Everything was clean, the house was nice and cozy, the beds were comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. The only drawback from being on a busy main street was the occasional traffic noise at night. I am glad though that we stayed there. Our other relatives stayed in hotels for two nights and did not have the privacy nor room that we did. And it is close to just about everything!"

  • 50th Anniversary

"In July 2016 my husband and I, celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, spent two weeks at the Seawall House. With us were our two children and their families and at different times an assortment of sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and such. The house was perfect for our relaxed, home-centered, indoor/outdoor activities. As we were located just across the boulevard from the beach, it was easy to spend time with our grandchildren splashing in the surf, boogie-boarding, and sand-castle building. Across the other street was a surf shop which our grandchildren visited almost daily for T-shirts, goggles, and water toys. Much of the time we were able to walk to nearby restaurants (I highly recommend the Ocean Grill and Beach Bar about 4 blocks away which also catered our anniversary celebration meal, which was fabulous.), and one afternoon my daughter and I walked to the Hotel Galvez for a soothing afternoon at their spa. Needless to say, the location was superb. Another favorite pastime was enjoying the balconies, verandas, and patios around the house. The second story balcony was popular in the mornings for the coffee and tea drinkers who loved the shimmering sunny views of the Gulf waters. At night we would tend to move to the front patio to enjoy the cool ocean breezes and let the children play in a child's wading pool which we bought for the times when no one was going to the beach. Several of our relatives slept in the two apartments at the back of the property, and often many of them sat on the backyard veranda late into the night. The third floor was relegated to the children who loved having their own secret place, especially the two beds built into the walls. Many of our family and friends visited museums, went on turtle tours, and watched historic films, but the house was always the center of attention. And as for noise, we learned rather happily that sound did not pass easily between the floors. This was helpful when the children had been put to bed and the adults did not have to worry about wakening them. So, for location, accommodations, and amenities, this house was a wonderful choice for our celebration. As we were leaving my daughter said that she really had not been looking forward to Galveston, which we had visited several times when she was a child, but after this great experience, she said that she was not only ready for another visit but she wanted to return to the Seawall House really soon"
