  • Great for family gathering near NAS Corpus Christi

"The proximity to the NAS Corpus Christi was a key priority for us. Our son needed to be close enough to commute to the base as needed. Since he is in training, he couldn't ask for any vacation time, so we brought Thanksgiving and the family to him. The pics accurately portray the house and the kitchen is very well-stocked to prepare a large Thanksgiving meal. We walked a lot and enjoyed the pool, beach, the restaurant at the end of the road, and just hanging out at the house. We watched a lot of football and the living room and large open area was perfect for just hanging out. Easy drive to stores and restaurants. It was quiet. The neighborhood is cute and all of the houses are well-maintained. Our son brought his dog which saved on boarding fees and the deck was a fun place for the dog to hang out and watch the world."

  • The house is extremely roomy and nicely decorated.

"This house was perfect for our 3 family (6 adults & 6 kids) vacation getaway. Each family had their own floor which worked out great. Everyone had their own bathroom which was nice!! We absolutely loved the house. It has everything you will need and can think of. The walk to the beach is extremely close which was perfect!! We also rented a golf cart which was a hit with the kids and adults. We had such a great time and felt as though we were at home!!! Great place...We will definitely come back!! Thank you Barbara and Lee!!"

  • Great location!

"We had a great stay at the Island Retreat in Port Aransas. The studio condo that we stayed in was just what our family needed. Even though the beds were in the main room, there was plenty of room for the beds, a small sofa, and a table. I also appreciated that the dressing area was large. It was nice to have the full-sized refrigerator, the coffee maker, toaster, and microwave. The grounds of the Island Retreat are beautifully maintained, the pools were clean and had plenty of loungers, and the boardwalk was super-convenient for getting to the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. Island Retreat is very close to the main street in Port Aransas. It was very easy to get to restaurants, shops, and entertainment. The beach was clean and the water was clear. The only thing that we wished we had was clothes hangers. There was a hanging area in the dressing area, but no hangers for clothes."

  • Pleasant Surprise

"When my husband booked this condo for a last minute vacation I was very skeptical. I started reading bad reviews and saw bad photos that other reviewers had posted and immediately tried to cancel our reservation. The Turn Key representtative told me it was too late for me to cancel but informed me if there were any issues when we arrived they would do whatever they could to help out. So I crossed my fingers and prayed. We arrived and again I felt it was a little sketchy looking on the outside but not too bad. I was pleasantly surprised when I I walked into our condo. Before I start listing the things that could use improvement, I want to say that this place had just about everything we needed for the 2 nights we stayed with 4 adults and 2 children. A roof over our head, place to cook and great access to the beach. Now to the improvements that could turn this place into an excellent stay. Everything seemed to be cleaned as well as possible. The living room seating could definitely use some updating. They weren't very comfortable and were covered in what looked like some old curtains to hide the ugly cushions. For a condo that is supposed to sleep 6 people the living room is only comfortable for 4 maybe 5 and the dining room table only has 3 chairs. The kitchen seemed to have plenty of dinnerware, utensils, cookware and appliances that would be needed. I slept on the king size bed in the Captains room and thought it was very comfortable. The TV in that room however is possessed and had to be unplugged because you turn it off with the remote and 2 minutes later it's on again. There was only 1 remote to the 2 bedroom TVs so it had to be shared. The condo could use more rugs throughout. The sand is so fine at the beach that it inevitably gets tracked into the house and it'd be nice to wipe your feet off before getting into bed. The bathrooms had plenty of towels which was great. The master bath tub could use some renovating. The walls were cracking and there was some mold or staining of the caulk which made me uneasy giving my little ones a bath. I didn't personally use the 2nd bedroom or bathroom but the other adults that were with us said it was sufficient. As for the complex the pool looked great but would have been a plus if it had been heated. The water was freezing while we were there so we didn't get to use it. My kids enjoyed the playground. And I loved the short walk down to the beach. I'd definitely stay here again for such a low price."
