  • Beautiful and Quiet Retreat

"Pine Grove Cottage is a rare find! Quaint and full of character but with all the modern comforts that make life easy. We wanted for nothing during the week we stayed here and got some much needed rest. There were days that we simply lazed in the large sun room, watched the incredible scenery, and thought of nothing except how beautiful it all was! We thought this property might be "off the beaten path" but it was easy to find. The house was on a main county road, but the traffic was light and it is set back far enough that we felt like we were entering another world when we came up the drive. Once we got to the house, all we could hear was silence that was occasionally broken by the sound of birds, chickens from a nearby coop and a little flock of goats. It is nestled in a grove of huge, mature pine trees overlooking a magical lake, complete with fishing pier and boats. There were hiking trails all throughout the property, and lawn furniture for those who would rather rest than walk! Everything was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The owners are wonderful hosts and have a way of making you feel like old friends. Be sure and make time for the Tour, because you'll get to know Jim and Paula and learn their very interesting story. We loved taking a tour of the Ranch and felt like kids at camp by the time we were done! The most convenient large city nearby is Longview, and during our stay, we dedicated one day to an excursion into town where we were able to find a health food store, a car wash, and a large selection of restaurants. We noticed a movie theater and a mall, but since the Pine Grove Cottage is equipped with an entertainment system, DVDs and WiFi, we didn't feel the need to seek entertainment elsewhere. We especially enjoyed being able to bring our much beloved dogs. They are members of our family and no trip is complete without them, so we really appreciate hosts who make our pups as welcome as we are! This property will remain among our favorites and since we have relatives in this area, we look forward to staying here again! Thanks Jim and Paula. You guys are awesome and The Pine Grove Cottage is a beautiful little getaway!"

  • Had an amazing (relaxing) time

"Enjoyed stay very much. Took tour of property last day seen some things wish we would have known before (Take tour earlier in stay) My wife would have liked to seen a calf being born the first morning of our stay. She loved the pigmy goats. I enjoyed the fishing the first night we went fishing wife caught a large mouth bass 6 lbs or better it was the largest fish we caught, the only one for her but I heard about who caught the largest fish all weekend. ;) I caught around 20 fish between 2 - 4 pounds, all in large tank in front of Treehouse cabin. Everything was very well keep. Can not wait until we can return with family and stay in one of the other cabins. Thank You Monte Bodine"

"This is our 2nd time here and we loved it as much as the 1st. We took our grandchildren the week before school started. It did rain the whole week but we had 2 to 3 hrs in the morning sunshine and again in the afternoon. We were able to play board games with the kids big and little and that was a blast. Love love love this place it is so peaceful and beautiful. Everybody wants to know when we are going again. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your home."
