  • Heaven with view

"With small grandchildren living in Vermont and us living in Idaho, this was the perfect location for a month long visit to Vermont. From the first contact with the owners everything was perfect. When we arrived in mid September everything exceeded out expectations. This is a very beautiful property and the views are out of this world. Being able to watch the transition of colors was more that we had ever experienced. The peace and quiet of the area was very relaxing and the small grandsons loved playing in the yard with the tire swing and exploring the trails and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. We enjoyed our visits with Dan the care taker and going to all the small towns around the area. Our Bichon loved watching all the black cats with white stripes (on leash of course), deer, turkeys, porcupines and many large hawks. The plaque on the front gate says it all. "Once in a Blue Moon". I hope our health holds so that we can return to the property again someday."

  • All the comforts of home

"I'd stay at Kilburn Place again in a heart beat. The owners were very responsive and accommodating. The listing description was accurate. The house had everything we needed. We enjoyed air conditioning in the bedroom (with king size bed) our first night as it was a hot one. We ate breatfasts each morning in the fully equipped kitchen. There was plenty of room for our trailer in the yard. The paved u-shaped driveway made getting in and out easy. There were renters staying on the floor above us (Kilburn Place Unit #2 - ID 624547). We could hear them moving around. It wasn't a problem, just something to expect when you stay. The location was perfect. A 15 minute stroll along the river and over a covered bridge brought us to downtown's shops and restruarants. We enjoyed the Chang Thai Cafe so much, we ate dinner there twice. Polly's Pancake Parlor was a 20 minute drive. Hiking for all skill levels in Franconia Notch was a beautiful 20 - 30 minute drive. The property was centrally located for many scenic drives through New Hampshire's White Mountains and Vermont's scenic byway (Route 5). I'd recommend Kilburn Place to family and friends. I look forward to returning."

  • Tranquil

"We had such a nice stay at the Lake. The lake is definitely small, but beautiful and serene. And voices sure do carry. The house has all the comforts of home. Kichen fully stocked, although I had a hard time making pancakes because I forgot to buy butter or cooking spray. TV room is a nice spot to hangout at night after sun goes down with lots of TV channels. . You want to enjoy the view of lake downstairs for as long as daylight provides. We could not get cell phone coverage at lake with our Verizon carrier, and had sporadic Internet coverage. Beds are comfy, my teens used the full size bed and bottom bunk of bunk beds in thd 2ND bedroom. We opted to use towels/linens provided at house so we wouldn't have to pack towels and sheets. Just have to wash at end of stay. We were there for 4 nights and experienced beautiful sunny weather, cloudy day, and a rainy day. We kept busy every day. Mornings we'd enjoy our coffee looking out on the lake or sitting out on the nice deck. There's also a nice lawn area with a few Adirondack chairs to sit. The nice weather days we just relaxed at the lake, swam, floated around in the inner tubes (provided), and paddled around in the kayak and canoe (provided). My husband and son fished on the lake too, (fishing poles provided). Also played a little bocce ball (provided). On the rainy day we went into town and ate at a small Mexican restaurant with a bar, food was OK, nothing great, we asked our server what she would recommend on a rainy day, she suggested a little shopping on Main St, in Littleton and visit to the Candy store there, which we did. It was a very quaint town close by. The cloudy day we were lazy and got a late start and decided to hike to the farm nearby which was recommended in the literature provided, beware no trail signs, and many forks in the trail, we ended up using our GPS on phone and made it to the farm. Not sure if this hike is private property since we came across a few Posted no fishing, hunting, trespassing signs. Probably 1 1/2 hrs overall but we may not have taken the most direct route. By the time we returned weather was perfect for a swim and some more fishing. We also visited Village pizza for some pizza and wings on the last night . The trip wasn't complete until we visited Slicks ice cream for some Grandma's apple pie ice cream! Yum. Overall a wonderful stay which provided some nice family time with the teens. Thanks for sharing your gem on the lake."

  • Family Memories are created here!

"Our family had a wonderful relaxing week at this beautiful home in Sugar Hill! Plenty of space for all of us to spread out! The house was clean and comfortable and at the end of a dead end, had plenty of privacy! With a family of 4 adult "kids" that now have grown to a family of 8 is close and we enjoy our family time together! Each of us took turns cooking each night in the gourmet kitchen! Waking up to kayaking each morning with the magical Loons, who now have a baby! Allie was great to work with and very responsive to any questions during our stay! The neighborhood was so quiet nice and friendly! Sugar Hill is worth the drive and we were enchanted by the beautiful stunning countryside! The museum and Polly's Pancakes are a must for your stay! Close enough to all attractions in the White Mountains too! Highly recommend Allie and this home!"
