  • Guaranteed as advertised

"The Wells Farmstead is just as advertised and we just had a wonderful winter weekend to celebrate a birthday and get away from it all. The fabulous VT farmhouse is very respectfully restored and has all of the comforts of home. No cell service for sure, but the internet and satellite TV will keep you as connected as you want to be. So many places to explore in the trails around the house you never need to leave, but the Craftsbury Outdoor Center is not to be missed especially if you are a nordic enthusiast. The beautiful sleigh beds were so comfortable, and the kitchen was stocked with all of the basics you need to support some great family meals. We would HIGHLY recommend this listing and are already talking about returning next winter."

  • Lovely family cabin

"We had a wonderful week here (2 couples with between us, two young children and a baby). The cabin is very comfortable and brilliant for children, with a big grassy slope for games and good access to the lake for swimming (stony underfoot but great shallows for paddling and skipping rocks). The furnishings are old but that's nice with young kids as you are not constantly worried about sticky fingers etc! Kitchen is well equipped though with some minor typical glitches (blunt knives and an underpowered oven); the adult beds are doubles not queens as listed, but the larger room easily held a pack and play and extra mattress for our youngest members. We appreciated the toys and books available and the friendly notes from the owners. It rained a lot during our stay so we did a bit of exploring - there is not a huge amount in the surrounding area but Newport has some good food, & we enjoyed a local county fair, old school house museum and an abbey just across the Canadian border - and of course, plenty of maple syrup shopping. All in all a delightful, peaceful and family-friendly getaway!"

  • Quintessential Vermont Hospitality

"Sometimes it's just the home or the location that is special, but once in awhile you get lucky and find a host family that makes the visit complete. That is what we found with Harold, Emma and Carey Earle! From the snowy chats in the driveway to the visits with the chickens and goats, we couldn't have enjoyed our time with them more! Grooming the trails in the gaitor with Harold were afternoons well spent with my teenage daughters. Riding the snowmobiles through the field and groomed trails meant we never had to leave the property. Enjoyed the games and puzzles that were available and made good use of the full kitchen to make meals to share with my family and new friends. We did not want for anything and thoroughly enjoyed the homemade pickled beets, horseradish and maple syrup. We were spoiled by having everything we needed already provided. So we saw many comments about the beds and now I understand! They are like large, comfy dream machines and we slept so well. Girls could have easily shared a bed and room to bring friends next time! There will definitely be a next time and we now count the Earle family as friends! We hope other families will find this little slice of heaven and spend some quality time enjoying this Vermont experience."
