  • Perfect place to stay on the lake, comfortably

"We are a family of two parents and two teenagers, and we had a grandma with us as well. We enjoyed every bit of our stay in this cottage, and we are marking it for our future trips to Lake Champlain. Pros: 1. First and foremost, we loved the access to the lake, with the two kayaks, one canoe and one rowboat included. They were in good conditions. We spent plenty of relaxing time, together or alone, on these and in the water swimming. Having access to these activities at a moment's notice was great. 2. House is fully equipped: almost everything you can think of, from spices and kitchen supplies, table supplies, and grill tools, to cleaning supplies, linen and towels, all are provided. 3. What is supplied is either new or in acceptable/functioning condition. 4. Gorgeous view from a large, clean and well maintained deck with plenty of seating pieces. Here, we enjoyed the breakfast every day and spent relaxing time late in the day and at sunset. 5. House is beautifully decorated. Plenty of seating space. Plenty of board games. Comfortable bedrooms and beds for up to 6 people. Two comfortable bathrooms with enough storage room, and one very clean shower. 5. Beautiful little town of Middlebury is closeby, but otherwise you are in a pretty secluded area (with only a few neighbors on this street). Cons (these were all minimal and fairly inconsequential): 1. No AC (although in late July we were comfortable with ceiling fans only). 2. No Washer-dryer (we practically didn't need it for the weeK). 3. Although there is a general store at a 5-7 min drive, if you need fruits or vegetable, or other specific items, you may have to go the closest towns for a supermarket (Vergennes, 12-15 min, or Middlebury 25 min). We actually enjoyed these trips as part of our few day trips (including one to Burlington, 50-60 min). 4. Although I saw some brave people biking on the nearby roads, there is limited availability of biking or walking path that could be safe (ie, not on a narrow roads) for everyone."

  • Idyllic Retreat

"This is the kind of place that makes you want to keep coming back. It is the perfect spot to explore the area around this part of Lake Champlain near Vergennes, with the incredible Shelburne Museum and even Burlington not far. But the best part is that after exploring, or kayaking down Otter Creek, you can come back to this wonderful setting: a well-appointed farmhouse with ample fields for kids and dogs to play, seated on a gentle sloping yard leading down to the river. Watching the mist on the water in the morning from the back porch, hearing big fish jump, and taking a turn in the swing under the apple tree are memories we all hope to repeat. The house itself is a quaint and very welcoming combination of modern convenience and antique charm. A well-furnished, modern, and open kitchen ties the house together, between the old farmhouse and the newer addition, while the upstairs had more than enough room for the five of us to sleep comfortably. Much of the welcoming feel to the house comes from its owners, who are friendly, very responsive, and accommodating, and ready to respond should a problem arise. We're lucky they decided to share this home with the rest of us!"

  • A slice of heaven on the lake!

"We spent a lovely fourth of July week with our 3 adult children at this beautiful home. Sandra, the owner was easy to communicate with and very responsive. When we arrived the home was spotless, incredibly well equipped and decorated with stylish and comfortable furnishings. It was a joy to cook in the chef's kitchen that is open into the dining and living spaces. The high-end outdoor propane grill was especially nice to have. Unlike many summer rentals that have "tag-sale" pots and dishes, the kitchen is supplied with Williams Sonoma cookware and china. The property sits high on a hill overlooking a private cove and small island in the lake. There is a long staircase down to the water, or a golf cart to drive there if you are not up for the exercise. Two kayaks and a standup paddle board were at the waterfront, and the end of the long dock was a great place to watch the sunsets over the adirondacks. There were plenty of places in the house to both gather and find alone space. The deck overlooking the lake is spectacular, and there is also a large screened porch to escape mosquitos in the evening. One small heads up: this summer of 2016 has been very dry and there is a lot of algae that accumulates in the cove, so any swimming is best done from the end of the dock and further out in the lake. It's a wonderful place that accommodated the 5 of us very comfortably. We're looking forward to returning next summer."

  • Delightful holiday stay in Willsboro, NY

"My in-laws live in Willsboro and lodging options are limited, especially in the winter. Beau Overlook is DELIGHTFUL! The location is wonderful as one can walk to downtown Willsboro. The views of the river and downtown are awesome. We could sit at the dining table at night to see the illuminated trees, the moon shining on the river--what more could one ask for, but there is more. House is nicely decorated with Christmas but without, the house is warm and contemporary with accents from the past. The kitchen has anything one could want. We had ample space to store our food for making meals during the holiday weekend. The oven worked great to make our roast and bread for Christmas. Very nice set up. The master bath has a GREAT view of the river. The bedroom has a huge closet. Washer and dryer conveniently located in the master bath on the first floor. Bedrooms upstairs shared a bath which was great for my brother-in-law and his family. Nice, neat, clean, convenient, ample space and beautiful views."
