  • Awesome family vacation get-away!

"We rented for one week and were most pleased with the area, the lake, the cottage and the owners. First the area: located within yards of the US-Canada border, this section of Green Mountain State is one of the most scenic I've had the pleasure to visit. It has everything: rolling, forested mountains, open pastures and grasslands, a beautiful and uncrowded lake, and many fewer people than most New England vacation spots. The lake is larger than average for the state: less than a quarter of its 28 mile length is in Vermont, the remainder extends into Quebec. The section of the lake where we stayed is dotted with small islands with rocky shorelines, protected tree-lined coves, and some terrain where the lake gives way to marshland. Within a few yards of the cottage there's a wildlife management area with wetlands and grassy areas full of birds, waterfowl, small game and deer. There are also trails for walking and unhurried roads for jogging and biking. As others have remarked, the cottage is as furnished and well-stocked as a family home. The owners have anticipated almost every need for comfort and utility. The kitchen has almost every kind of utensil, an attractive gas range & oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, roomy fridge, plenty of cups, glasses, plates and bowls, flour, sugar, spices, etc. There's also a great Weber gas grill in the backyard. Very comfy furniture and beds. Clean bathrooms with good plumbing, a washer & dryer, nicely finished floors, a great deck with a good table and seating, etc. I've rented a number of vacation homes before, and this one by far is the best value I've encountered. Finally, there are the owners who work hard to be excellent hosts. They do a great job keeping the place in tip-top order, but with a light touch. Their own vacation home is on an adjacent lot, but apart from inquiring whether everything was fine, they gave us plenty of space and privacy. They offer the use of a rowboat, a paddle boat, and a canoe. They have a small stretch of sandy beach where my cousin's two kids played every afternoon. The water is warm and good for swimming. The owner's had also left us two bottles of wine on the dining room table when we arrived, a very welcoming gesture. I would recommend this property to most people, but especially families with young children or teens, young couples, and retired people. The only people I would not recommend the property to is any poor soul who needs constantly to be connected to the internet!"

  • Nice Condo

"Good, convient location. Unit is on second floor which we didn't realize until we got there. A lot of stairs for those who may have trouble with stairs. Owner very responsive to questions. They need to get handles for all the windows in the condo that don't have them. Only 1 handle for all windows was a negative. Overall a very clean unit."

  • Has it all

"Our first time up to Okemo I was coordinating a huge group and had tons of question for the owners of this house, who were great to deal with. Love it to much have ended up going three times, once in the Fall and twice for skiing...going up again this winter! Location is great, quick ride into town or to the mountain...A fantastic home for families or adult groups...It's clean, tons of bathrooms and a big area to eat in...two different living areas in the house, so you can have separate hang out areas which works great with our group."

  • Want to return immediately...

"Over the past 6 summers we have rented houses in Peru and South Londonderry; this Landgrove house is the best, by far. Sitting on the porch at any point in the day or evening was serene. The vista changes with the light, making it endlessly watchable. The house was the perfect size for us, comfortable and well-appointed with everything needed. Of all the houses we've rented, this house had the easiest-to-use outdoor grill, tv, dvd player, dishwasher, clothes washer/dryer, and wifi. From experience, we expected issues with all of these and had none. The location in Landgrove was convenient for everything we wanted to do- ice cream in Weston, breakfast in Chester, Bromley, Magic Mountain, shopping in Manchester- not to mention delightful walks right out the door. Having six cows with their 2 month old calves out back was best of all. Unlike my family, I'm not an animal fanatic but I grew to eagerly look for what they were up to and was charmed watching the little ones run and play. The mooed occasionally; I wished they mooed more often. There was zero smell, a concern I had. The perfect nature show. I recommend this house without reservation and am eager to return."
